One of my friends asked me to write a blog about my experience back into America.

When I returned home in 2009 it was the week of thanksgiving.  I noticed a few things that were definitely different.  One of the first things I noticed in the airport was that there were a  few angry people who had no regard for their own worth and openly cussed out flight ticket attendants.  But it was only a few, I just really remember one in particular.  I also noticed everyone looking at their phones but i did not think anything of it at the time.  After finding a seat in the crowded airport I noticed a pregnant woman with a baby and watched as she walked around looking for a seat and not a one person offered it to her.  It was rather strange, so I asked her if she would like mine and she said she was ok standing (which I thought was strange) but let her know that at anytime if she was tired she could have my seat to rest.
After getting back into the American groove, two more things stuck out to me.  One when I was getting my cell phone.  So in 2009 I had missed I guess 97% of the smart phone revolution (I also did not know what twitter was).  When I went to best buy i found a sprint guy help me get a phone and he began with a few questions:
How often do you check your email?
I responded ” Once, maybe twice a month……well when I have internet”
He asked “How often do you check facebook?”
I responded ” Probably the same a few times a month…”
Then I went on to tell him that i am not really sure how often i will check it now.  During this time i began to realize that phones had turned into computers.  Near by I heard someone complaining about how their phone was not loading fast enough and I had to stop and ask : Are you telling me that you say google.com and it travels to a satellite (at least that is how i think it happens) and comes back here with what ever information you need and it only takes a couple seconds!!!!?  Incredible!!
A complete change from dial up or just slow internet.

The other thing that stuck out for me was that truth is relative.  I came back home and was at a bar for a birthday party and I was talking with this old friend and I mentioned that during the olympics they legalize prostitution and that its a horrible situation.  And my friend began to say well what if these women want to be prostitutes.  My response was “huh?”  because I did not understand what he was arguing.  I stated a couple true statements and one of those was that prostitution is wrong.  It was not an arguable point.  It was a fact.  It is not up for discussion.  Then a few months later I realized he thought he could change truth.  It was funny to me because truth is truth it cannot be altered but in America the belief is that truth is relative….very strange.  I am glad i have the bible and it is true no matter what culture i enter into.
Thanks for reading, again this is just a post a friend asked me to write:)
