Ah. A 20/20 perspective. As I’ve looked back on my life, very often with a 20/20 perspective, it’s been so fruitful to look in the past and see things with a clearer vision, and very, very, very thankfully, with more wisdom and trust in myself and the Lord than earlier on.
But this post isn’t going to focus on looking back.
This blog will focus on adjusting your focal point WHILE you’re on your way getting to that place in your life where you can look back on it with 20/20 vision. It is so incredibly important to be aware of what’s going on in the in between from each gaze to each gaze, and even when sometimes you can’t see clearly, there is “stuff” that you need to see.
For example, when I was in Honduras last month, I faced internal struggle after internal struggle. Often, anxious thoughts kept me up at night, or I became quite irritable over small and petty things, and I was just TIRED. Just plain old tired. The whole month. I knew that while I was in Honduras, the Lord wanted me to listen to Him more and He wanted to teach me more about Himself and who I am in Him, but frankly speaking, it was really tough to show up to class each day.
Honestly speaking, with the combination of the ministry, learning how to live with 49 other people, and my personal struggles, my time in Honduras was challenging. One great thing I DID learn, however, is that it is totally ok (and probably quite good) to have challenging months on the World Race and in life. I’m learning ( again) that having challenging times means I’m not staying stagnant and usually growing, and every day I hope and pray that it is closer to the Lord. During Launch, Bill Swan informed the Racers that the first thing one needs to have a successful World Race is a desire for growth and change. Well, I’ll let you guys and Bill know that I’m now learning what exactly the effect is of my desire for growth and change. It’s hard. It’s rough. IT IS SO WORTH IT.
For you, I ask this question, even if you’re not a World Racer: Do you have a desire for growth and change? If so, declare it out loud! Say, “I have a desire for growth and change.” and then start recording what happens. Don’t be afraid to write about the nitty gritty or about the stuff that honestly just gets under your skin. As you’re recording and in the midst of adjusting your prescription on your “Life Glasses” when you look back with 20/20 vision, you know what you’re exactly looking at. When you record the “in between” stuff, you can see each hurdle the Lord helps you jump over, and you can remember exactly how dark each dark spot was before the Lord shone His light on it.
May advice to you today is this: Record on, dear readers. There is a story that’s been bubbling inside of you that’s waiting to be lived AND shared. I know, I know, a thought like this might pop into your head, ‘I don’t have a story,’ or ‘My story isn’t interesting.’ to which I would reply: “FALSE,” on both occasions. YOU DO have an incredible story. Will you rob others of reading your story, or will you gift them with an unforgettable tale?
Part of my incredible World Race tale is that the Lord has brought over $10,000 to my World Race account, but I need to have a total of $11,000 by April 1, 2014, in order to continue living my great story as a World Racer. Would you be willing to be part of my story and support me so I can stay on the World Race? If so, please click the ::Support Me/ GIVE:: link on the left to donate immediately! Thank you, and God Bless!
