Preparation: It’s a thing we all WANT to do well; we try to prepare ourselves for what’s ahead, we grab an umbrella if he hear it’s going to rain, we try to prepare a great meal for a friend or significant other, etc.
Instead of depending and trusting on our Dad to prepare, when we begin to try to prepare everything in our own strength and will lies one huge problem: the preparation turns from being playful to perfect-seeking.
When we prepare a meal for someone and we want the whole kit-and-kaboodle to be perfect, (i.e. the food, their reaction, the environment, etc) that’s when it actually gets messy. It gets messy, and our perfect-seeking perception throws us into a tornado of disappointment when things don’t go the way WE want them to.
Trying to prepare for the World Race by using my own, perfect- seeking strength felt like I was just running into the same wall again, and again, and again.
It took a bit of time and breathing space to learn and realize (and I’ll probably re- learn and re- realize it during other times not only in prepping but during and even after the race as well) that I don’t have to be perfect-seeking during this preparation time (nor should I be!)
This preparation time should be fun, deep, silly, serious, full of tears, full of fears, and full of more requests for Big Brother JC to show up and do HIS thang!
That’s right: It’s HIS thang.
The World Race is His.
The 15,500 HE will raise is HIS.
The teams that HE will form are HIS.
The fundraising ideas that He’s given me are HIS.
The “gut feelings” I’ve gotten about giving a support letter to someone are HIS.
The glory, the expansion of His Kingdom, the credit, praise, mercy & grace he has given me are HIS.
Regarding the preparation: Let’s shine some Light on who is really prepping for the WR, shall we?
Q: Who is preparing my heart?
A:He is.
Q: Who is preparing the hearts of the people that I’m going to meet in
Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mozambique, Swaziland,
South Africa, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia?
A: He is.
Q:Who is preparing my hosts’ hearts?
A: He is.
Q: Who is preparing my donors’ hearts?
A: He is
Q: Who is prepping the hearts of my fellow community members?
A: He is.
Ladies and Gents! News flash! : HE is prepping it all! WOAH! That’s truly outrageous!
I’m SO excited to see how He’s going to CONTINUE TO BLOW MY SOCKS OFF during this WHOLE adventure. : )
