“What two words, when used lovingly, sincerely and passionately can literally change everything about your circumstances? ‘Thank you.’ “
I just wanted to thank you for being involved in my World Race Journey so far.
I am so incredibly blessed to have friends from all over the world supporting me, whether through prayer, financially, donating supplies, or even just cheering me on. I am flabbergasted at how much love I’ve been shown and has spread out through this experience so far.
If you don’t know, I’ve known about the World Race since I’ve first heard about it back in September 2011. In March of this year, when I was asked to write down my dreams, one of them was to “travel around the world, sharing music and love.” The day after I wrote that dream on paper, I booked my interview with a World Race staff member.
I’ve been blessed to have met multiple World Racers, I’ve been blessed with a great relationship with a World Race alum/mentor, and in less than two very short weeks, I myself am about to become a World Racer. What the WHAT?!
I keep trying to reflect back on how all of this came to be.
I keep trying to figure out how half of the support I need to do all 11 months has already been raised.
I keep trying to understand how every material thing I need for the Race has been provided for.
Am I missing something here? ‘Cause one of my dreams is literally coming true.
The only conclusion I keep coming to is that I’m incredibly loved by Jesus. That’s it.
He knows my desire to travel the world and share His Love, Music, Passion and Joy.
He knows that I’ve wanted to do the World Race for a while, and He prepared this time for me. I have no other commitments holding me back from embarking on the journey in January, so I’m taking the leap of faith onward and upward.
Still, there is so much I don’t know today.
I have no idea how my college loans will be covered each month.
I have no idea how I’ll get petty cash that I need to buy things while on the Race.
But what I know, like I know, like I know is that God has asked me to TRUST HIM.
He’s been wanting me to trust Him about Providing everything for the World Race for almost a year.
He has planted a dream inside of me: to be fully funded by my birthday.
On January 15, 2013, (ok, actually the 16th) at 3 am, I wrote a birthday card to myself.
Part of the card read:
“Kim, I want to congratulate you for being accepted into the World Race for January 2014 and for not spending one penny or RMB ( Chinese money) of your own money for the fundraising, one year of school loans, or the equipment needed. Congratulations, and thanks be to God who is so gracious to give you these things and this opportunity.”
I still have the card. I’ve looked at it all year. January 15th is 20 days away.
I can’t spend a single second wondering what would have happened if I shared this with others earlier. The truth is that there is still time for me to continue to ask God to hear and answer this prayer. So here I am, with a heart full of faith, asking you to join me in this specific prayer. Please, if you feel the stirring, please agree with me that God would allow me to experience all 11 months of the Race, AND that fully fund me, provide every month’s college loans, and petty cash for all 11 months while I’m on the Race by January 15, 2014, my birthday. I want to expect only one thing: that God will MOVE through the hearts of my supporters, my team mates, my squadmates, the people all around the world us World Racers will meet. I am seeking a hefty prayer team, and to be quite blunt, I need your help and prayers! Your prayers are effective and they mean everything to me and to God!
