In June 2014, Team RAD ventured into the mainly unknown land of Myanmar ( formerly known as Burma.) There, we began our first Unsung Heroes Month. Essentially, we prayed for the Lord to get us in contact with Jesus- loving people and churches, meet with them, and see if future World Race teams would fit in well with their ministries. Our main goal is to help Adventures in Missions find new contacts in Myanmar.
We focused on one city, Mandalay. The former capital of Myanmar, it’s a city with a lot of character, a neat – looking palace, a FANTASTIC hill, many people who are walking with Jesus, but many who are not (yet.)
We attended different churches, met with about 20 youth pastors, and bonded as a team. It was a stupendous month.
Below are some highlights of my month, through pictures. Enjoy!
Here I am teaching the story of Joseph with Albert, the Youth Pastor at Mandalay’s Assembly of God Church.
One day, DeAnna, Rachel and I were exploring Mandalay. We walked by a Hindu temple, then got
invited to go inside! After observing the Festival ceremony first hand, we had some lunch on a banana leaf!
I was sitting in the hotel lobby one morning, and some monks came down to talk to me.
This was pretty unusual, because normally, Burmese monks don’t talk to women.
We had a nice chat and took some pictures! It was great!
Here is the UBien Bridge in Mandalay. Our team went to go take pictures and watch the sunset.
We didn’t see a sunset, but we saw something spectacular… a thunderstorm rolling in.
It was AWESOME. ( The picture was taken before the storm)
