On Friday, February 14th, with my team mates and some of Team Awakening by my side, we went into a village in Honduras with my team mates, going to houses and asking the people inside if we could pray for them. When we got back to Grace’s house (the main place point of our ministry this month) I bumped into two of my squad leaders, Madisson and Geena. We got to talking, and suddenly, before I even knew it, I was telling them that I was interested in learning how to start a ministry. Geena excitedly said, “You should go find Grace (one of the leaders of the Heart of Christ ministry) and ask her for some advice and tips!”
BOOM. My heart dropped to my toes. Too quickly I heard a voice in my head, ‘What! Go and ask Grace? She’s beyond busy, there would be no way she’d be able to have time to talk to ME!’
Well let me tell you, Jesus certainly decided to smash that lie right then and there.
I told Geena and Madisson that I’d try to find Grace and talk to her for a few minutes. I came out of the room and found Grace sitting on a stoop. With a slightly rapid heartbeat, I asked her if she could give me a few quick tips about starting a ministry.
She looked at me for a second and then asked, “What exactly to you want to know?”
Fast forward to a new scene: Chelle, my squadmate and I, along with Grace, were on the front porch. With a glass of Coke in Grace’s hand and pens and paper in my hands and in Chelle’s as well, as Grace shared a TON of wisdom about starting a ministry. What I thought could possibly be a 5 minute question and answer session beautifully turned into a hour long conversation with Grace intently listening to my dream and helping me process with what the Lord has put on my heart.
It’s fascinating how quickly we turn down opportunities that the Lord presents to us, for a number of reasons, like we think don’t deserve it, or that we’d be a bother to others if we took these opportunities, or that things just simply couldn’t happen because we can’t see it in that moment.
I just want to tell you that You can take these opportunities, and God WANTS you to take these opportunities that He’s given you. Like I’ve mentioned before, God gives tons of opportunities all of the time. The biggest and best opportunity God gives each and every one of us is to accept His Love for us, and have a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. If you have never done this, I ask that you’d take a moment and think about this opportunity that God’s given you.
If you have already accepted His Love, I ask you to take a moment and think about the opportunities God has given you to grow in a deeper relationship with Him.
God’s going to give you opportunities ALL of the time.
Could one more opportunity that God’s put in your path is to listen to the stirring in your heart and applying for the World Race?
It could be……
