Last month, after much anticipation, I saw the movie FROZEN. I was lucky enough to watch it (well, the first 20 minutes of it anyway) with little kids. There’s something really special about being able to observe children’s excitement for movies. Anyway, I finished the movie by myself, and for three days, I couldn’t stop singing “Let It Go”. On the 3rd night, I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. All I could think about was the dang song!
Grabbing my my computer, I thought and prayed about where I was (not geographically, but heart-wise) and then wrote the song below. For me, it’s a celebratory song of letting the old stuff go. Like. Permanently. It’s also about how when we’re in Christ, we’re made new.
Enjoy!
“I’ve Let Go!” (Cover of “Let It Go” from Disney’s FROZEN)
The scene looks mean in my heart tonight,
It’s full of lies and doubt and fear
I know the Truth is out there
And I need it to come near
The whirling tornado of feelings deep inside
I’ve tried to sort them out,
I won’t believe the lies
Couldn’t let Him in
I couldn’t see
That my Jesus was right beside me
And by His Grace
My heart started to grow
So now I know…
And let go!
I’ve let go!
The old creation’s gone!
I’ve let go!
I’ve let go!
May God’s will be done!
On Christ I’ll stand!
And in Christ I’ll stay!
Let the storms rage on!
My Lord will take care of them anyway!
