Over a year, when I was choosing my route, some countries caught my attention more than others.
South Africa wasn’t one of those countries.
I visited the country for a day. From my 24 hour first – hand impression, it seems like a great country.
But it wasn’t where I was supposed to be for the month of October.
That’s right. My team had a wonderful surprise: For the month of October, Team Hakuna Matata is in Botswana, touring the whole country as we head into our second Unsung Heroes month. (Essentially, my team is seeking Jesus- loving, Kingdom focused ministries in Botswana that future World Race teams could potentially partner with.)
I’ll never forget when my team leader Ray told the whole team the good news: “ Ok team, we’re not going to be South Africa … we are going to spend the month in …. Botswana!” I jumped and screamed with delight. It was a CRAZY surprise, something totally new, unplanned, and unexpected. I can’t really explain it clearly, other than my Spirit got really excited for Botswana.
It’s been a delight.
In just two short weeks, my teammates and I have found four incredible contacts that look like great matches for the World Race.
We also …
walked a prayer walk the first full day we were in Botswana,
learned a Setswanan song.
played a fun game with a pastor and a hotel staff member.
led worship and gave testimonies at a youth meeting.
hiked to the top of a hill to watch a sunset.
(I personally served with Light of the World’s worship team last Saturday and Sunday. )
This month has been absolutely incredible, but not because of what I’ve done, who I’ve met, or even how I’ve served.
My time in Botswana has been completely unforgettable because the Lord’s blessed me with so many super sweet times to celebrate Him, His creation, His Glory and His Love, and His children.
My team and I still have 2 weeks in this incredible country. Pray for us that we really make it count!
Thank you, dear readers and supporters, for reading my bog. It means a a lot to me.
XOXO,
-Kim
