Matthew 5:42 says, Give to the one who asks you, and
do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
As you may or may not know, a few weeks ago a met an incredible woman named Mary at the Atlanta Airport (see the posts “There’s Something About Mary Parts I, II and III)
During that night, in response to a stirring that God put on my heart, I gave her most of my stuff in my pack and day pack. She didn’t ask for any of it, but I felt God was calling me to give her that stuff, and I wanted to obey the call. Moments after giving most of my stuff away, I experienced a joy that I still can’t describe in words. Honestly, I felt beyond free. Hopefully some day I’ll be able to explain it more articulately, but for now, all I can say is that it was one of the most freeing, liberating experiences of my life.
Now, after some time has passed, I’ve realized that I need some of the stuff I gave away. I don’t regret giving my stuff away, at ALL, because through asking for these materials for a second time, God’s given me another opportunity to trust Him that He will provide all that I need, because that’s the kind of CareTaker He is. Whether He provides these materials through his generous children, strangers, or miracles, I want to receive all that He has for me. It’s my deep, deep belief that God knows our hearts, and knows what we want, and He LOVES to give these things to us; we just have to ask Him to Provide and Deliver.
So, I am asking, in the name of Jesus, for Him to Provide and Deliver the following things to me before January 3, 2014.
Things I NEED
– a sleeping bag (40 – 45 degrees)
– toms, size 9 (or a great toms substitute) (Ok, I don’t NEED them, but I really, really like them and want them)
– a freestanding tent ( I believe I can acquire one from a squad mate, I just need to confirm it with her)
– a watch
– running shoes ( size 8 ½ or 9)
– durable sandals ( size 8 ½ or 9) (no offense to Old Navy, but their flip flops won’t do)
– a head lamp
– a new razor (and 3 replacement blades)
– Journals (3 nice, thick ones)
– Pens (probably 10)
– A water bottle
– 6 months or 1 year’s supply of multi vitamins
– A new bra ( If you’re serious about helping me get a bra, we’ll discuss which size over email.)
Things I WANT
– a sleeping pad or yoga mat (I believe I could use a yoga mat as a substitute)
– an iPad (to blog)
– an iTouch/ iPod (for head phone/ personal time)
– mascara
– eye shadow (neutral tones)
– eye liner (retractable stick, not liquid)
– a camping lantern
– a Swiss army knife
Like I mentioned before, I truly believe that God will Provide these things, I just need to ask.
I feel a stirring to ask God for these things, but to also ask you:
Can you help me acquire any or some of these items?
If you have any of these things lying around in your house, even if I could borrow them for a year, I would be so grateful.
If you’d like to give/help me acquire these items, please email me at [email protected] to discuss.
Thanks for your time and attention!
I’m thinking of you, and thankful for you!
May God abundantly bless you today.
Love,
-Kim
