In January, when I was in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala with my team Dependent by Faith (along with the other teams Adelphoi and Petrichor) we had the great honor to meet a fierce World Race alum, our contact, Jen Sopa Langes. Jen started her Race in January 2012, and, like me, Puerto Barrios was her first country.

Throughout the month I got to know Jen well, and as we shared stories, I noticed that she was a really special woman to know, especially during my first month on the Race.

The topic of fundraising came up, and I told her that although I had made the second deadline, I was totally clueless as to how the rest of the money would come in.

She then told me a story how her squad came together about fundraising.  She said, “Kim, before my squad even launched, some people expressed fears of  going home because they couldn’t raise the money. As a result of this, our squad ( the D – Squad) came up with a phrase to remind us and help us along the fundraising journey. Our phrase was “ Dude, don’t doubt!”  Whenever someone started to doubt if the funds would come, if they were even supposed to do the Race, or even if they should stay, my squadmates chimed in with our empowering phrase to remind each other that God didn’t doubt us, so we shouldn’t doubt Him and His power.”

Her story has stuck with me throughout my whole Race.

So here I am now, with a crazy, almost – impossible declaration: that  my entire squad is fully funded by September 1, 2014. 8 of us still need to raise a very small amount of funds to be fully funded ( some of us still need to raise $2,000, and some need to raise only a few hundred.)

I myself still need to raise  a small $1,700 in order to be fully funded.

I  definitely, absolutely, believe that all of the remaining funds can come in by September 1st. When doubt tries to creep in, Jen’s “Dude, don’t doubt!”  rings in my head. and all doubt disappears. When I meditate on standing firm in my faith,  I think about  my new ABC’s of faith:

A: Asking God (To fully fund my whole squad and keep us on the Race)

B: Be specified about what you want God will do for you ( To fully fund the A Squad by September 1, 2014)

C: Close all door of doubt. ( Dude, don’t doubt!)

I laugh at myself sometimes, when, back in December of last year, I pretty much pleaded with God to be fully funded by my birthday ( Jan 15th) so I “didn’t have to think about it during the Race.” HA ( talk about an incorrect heart position!)

God had SUCH a bigger plan for me. On July 1st, through NOT making the final deadline on time and staying on the Race ( so far)  I was able to receive His Grace in a way that I never possibly dreamed. If I was fully funded back then, I would not have been able to receive the stirring in my heart to pray that my Squad becomes fully funded by September 1st. I was fully funded back then, I would have pushed the dozens of supporters who have been supporting me since I started the Race.

God’s got a great plan. So dudes, (and dudettes) don’t doubt!

Like mentioned above, I need a mere $1,700 in order to be fully funded and stay on the World Race.

Please join me in prayer that my whole squad will be funded by September 1st.
