Did you know, in 1987, a young man named Mike Hayes asked a famous newspaper columnist to ask his readers to donate one penny so he could go to college, and in less than a month, through that fundraiser, he raised enough money to go! Mike said, “A penny doesn’t mean anything to anyone. If everyone who is reading your (the columnist’s) column looks around the room right now, there will be a penny under the couch cushion, or on the corner of the desk, or on the floor. That’s all I’m asking. A penny from each of your readers.”
Again, he raised the money he needed to go to college in less than a month. Imagine what can happen for a World Racer who is fundraising?!
As I was taking a walk today, and the Lord blessed me with this great fundraising idea…drum roll please…

Beginning on Friday, December 20, 2013, until , Wednesday, January 15, 2014, I am asking you (yes, you) and family to scrounge up any and all loose change in your pockets, under your couch, and underneath your car seats and donate it to help me go on my upcoming trip, the World Race. Make your loose change count, and partner with me on my World Race journey!
For those who don’t know, the World Race is a mission trip that will send me and about 50 other young adults to 11 different countries in 11 months. I am leaving for the first country, Guatemala, on January 9th ! I have to raise $16,278 total, and miraculously, have raised over $8,100! I have a dream of being fully funded by January 15, 2014, ( aka my birthday.) I know it’s a super-sized dream to be fully funded in a mere 26 days, but I sincerely believe that it could happen. Will you help make my dream come true?
