I just wanted to update you all on a few things that you can be praying for specifically
-> my financial deadline. Currently I still need to raise 3,210 dollars before April 1st in order to stay on the race. If you know anyone who may be interested in helping to support me, please feel free to share my blog and contact information- or also share their information with me so that I can reach out to them more directly.
-> health. My teammate Lori is currently in a hospital in Riga (the capital city) being treated for malaria. She is doing well and responding quickly to the treatment, but will have to remain there for the week to ensure that her health is back to normal. Please pray for her continued health, as well as her mind/attitude adjusting to being in a hospital in another country, away from her own team (though there is another team in Riga and our Squad leader is with her), where a lot of people do not speak English. Also now that she is feeling better, she is becoming bored in the hospital as normally she is a very outgoing and active person 🙂 There are several other people within our squad dealing with malaria as well so please say a prayer that all would recover quickly and that no more incidents would break out.
->the situation with Russia and Ukraine. Many members of the church I am working with here, as well as many people in the city of Daugavpils where we are at- have Russian or Ukrainian families. Because of the things that are going on, people cannot travel to these areas and sometimes it is difficult to stay in touch. Please be in prayer for the countries, as well as the entire area, that there would be no more military involvement and that the issues between the leaders would be settled in a civil and beneficial way.
-> our contacts are having a baby! The couple who has been guiding us in our ministry are 8 months along in their pregnancy and are eagerly awaiting their first child 🙂 Please pray for a healthy finish and an easy birth. They are the most amazing couple and have been not only a great spiritual resource, but they have gone out of their way to make us feel welcomed and at home here in Latvia. Ask for God to bless their family over and above anything they could ask for.
-> the youth conference at our church. This upcoming weekend there will be a youth conference that they have been planning for quite sometime now. They already have all of it planned out and there will be many youth leaders and young people from all the surrounding areas/countries. This can be a huge impact on the young generation, especially due to the conflicts and trials that are affecting the area right now. Pray that God will speak mightily through this conference and that it would spark a generation to do great things for God.
-> our visit to Riga. During the youth conference, our contacts have told us that there will not be much for us to do, as it is already planned out and all of our ESL classes will be suspended for that time. There will also be many more people staying in the church and with only one kitchen it will more difficult for us to cook for ourselves. They suggested that we use our off days and go visit the capital of Riga for the weekend. This worked out perfectly because Lori will be getting out of the hospital and also that weekend is Cicely’s birthday. It will be a great weekend for us all to have fun together as a team and to celebrate each other before we all come back as a team to finish our ministry together for the end of the month. Please pray that plans go smoothly- that we find a cheap and convenient place to stay, and that Lori does indeed get out of the hospital on Friday so that she can experience Riga outside of the hospital.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and continued support! It means so much to me to know that I have a lot of people back home supporting and encouraging me! Please feel free to contact me and keep in touch!
