It has almost
become a cliche. We are to the point where the weight of the words, the meaning
they have, and the truth they hold is all but lost. But it is all about perspective.
Perspective:
how we view. How we view what? How we view __________. It is simple, but so
complicated. No two views, are the same; and perspective changes in a second,
every second. Life is continuously moving, internally and externally, and so
the view is constantly evolving. But it is simple, where we stand determines
our view.
I’ve wanted to write this blog for a
long time but haven’t been able to fine the words. Now I have a new
perspective. (No pun intended… well, maybe a little!) Over time God has opened
my eyes to how vital it is to have the right perspective. He knows that when we
view things from that perspective we can see the light past the dark, we can
press on toward the goal and win the prize (Philippians 3:14)! But we have to
choose. That, as I am learning, is the hard part. Choosing to take off the
blinders, change the lens, turn on the light, and look up!
We tend to go
through life as if the way we
see ‘it’ is truth, that what we
feel is absolute, right, and unchanging. Don’t be foolish! Don’t limit yourself
or God to such a narrow view! This week I have listened to several stories of
hurting people, all who trust Him, who, if they simply changed their
perspective could have joy rather than sorrow, even in the midst of pain.
So what is the
“right” perspective? I can’t say that I have the answer. Shocking right? But I
do know that if we ask and earnestly seek Him, He will, in His time and His
wisdom, open our eyes. What it boils down to for me is recognizing that this
life is a vapor and reminding myself of the eternity that I have been promised.
And all the other stuff
in life seems so much smaller in comparison to the GOD of the universe and the
author of time!
I know that
there are many of you who are hurting and struggling, know that you are not
alone. I encourage you to look to Him for the perspective you need. I challenge
you to take off the blinders, change the lens, turn on the light, and look up!
Don’t be afraid, light is always better than darkness even though it hurts our
eyes after being in the dark for so long.
Isaiah 42:16
I will lead the blind by ways they
have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the
darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the
things I will do; I will not forsake them.
2 Samuel 22:29
You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD
turns my darkness into light.
