I cannot believe it has been almost 2
months on The World Race! Time seems to move at a strange pace, it feels like
time is flying but yet moving so slow. As our time in Trujillo, Peru comes to a
close, I am so grateful for the chance to be a part of the ministry here,
especially with the Compassion school, and eagerly look forward to ministry in
Bolivia!

Here is a glance of our month here:

Weather – Dry, cool,
mostly cloudy. It is a desert with sand everywhere!

Cultural Food – Chicken foot
soup (I at the soup but I just couldn’t do the foot)

Yep, it IS!
Common Transportation – Walking and
moto-taxis

Housing/Bed – Bedroom with a
double bed in a nice house with a family from the church

Ministry – We work with the
Compassion school, go to many of the church small groups, visit local homes,
and do some door-to-door evangelism

Painting one of the classrooms

Team – We are learning to live together
as a family and continue to grow closer.

Spiritual Growth – I am beginning
to learn what it is to rest in the Lord. He is showing me that it is more about
surrendering than trying.

Greatest Challenge – Letting go of
‘trying’ is tough. The uncertainty of what happens if I let go keeps my grip
tight; but God is gently loosening my grip.

Verse – “Find rest, O my soul, in God
alone; my hope comes from [H]im.” – Psalm 62:5

Favorite Moment – When I was sick,
Kevin, the 12-year-old boy who lives in the home we are staying at, came in
with my team and asked to pray for me. His intention was that my team members
pray for me, but with a little coxing he agreed to pray himself. It was so
sweet and humbling to have a child pray for my healing.

Favorite Adventure – We went with
some of the guys from other teams and they took us to a “mountain” behind where
they are staying. It is a large sand and rock mound. We hiked through the
desert, literally, to get there and once we were there we had to rock climb to
the top. It was a tough climb and when we got to the top we stopped to catch
our breath and admire the view. Then we headed down. Once we made it through
the rocks there was nothing but sand all the way to the bottom. Now we run, as
fast as we can down the sand! I had one really bad fall, but when you land on a
pillow of sand there is little risk of getting seriously hurt. (There are
videos and pictures to come!)

Me after my fall… I was very dirty as you can see.

Fun Fact – If you ask what
a food is you are guaranteed to then have to try it. This is how I ended up
eating quail eggs.

Two months and two countries are down and
there are nine more to go! Thank you for following my blog! Next time you hear
from my I will be somewhere in Bolivia!
