I figured I would go ahead a write a blog to anyone who would take interest, and ask something big.
I desire for someone to help me fundraise for a Canon 60 D camera with a sigma 30 mm lens…
My skin crawls even asking this, but as one sweet Filipino woman once reminded me this past month, “you do not have, because you do not ask…” and she’s right. So despite how much my skin might crawl reaching out asking for help, I’ll go ahead and let it be uncomfortable
My squadmate and friend, Joe DeLeon, has this very camera and I had the opportunity to use it during month 2 of our race. I made a video for myself of the orphanage we were at and what I discovered was a love story through the lens of this 60D camera.
If you know me, you know I love photos. I love the story they tell, I love what they describe when words can’t, I love that they arouse an emotional response of many kinds, I love that they hold memories that can be told for years to come. I see everything through a picture.
My parents bought me a Canon Rebel XSI my sophomore year in college and I have had an absolute blast blessing others with the pictures I take (i.e. engagement pictures, weddings, maternity shoots, newborns, etc.) AND getting to keep so many memories for myself.
Now, this Canon 60D with this sigma lens tells a story in a completely new way because of its video qualities. I get to tell an actual story with moving pictures. And what I love even more is that when I show those I have made the video of the end results of it, and their reaction is more than money could ever pay me
I have been contemplating writing a blog like this because of the lack of response it would evoke. But I won’t have because I won’t ask, so I’m taking a risk and asking someone to help me get this camera. I have been told that I have a gift with a camera and I would be beyond blessed if I could use this camera to further make use of the eye God has given me. Especially while on this race.
If the Father moves you to respond to this I’m asking that you would email me at [email protected] for more details on what to do…
I know it’s asking a lot, but I wouldn’t ask if I could do it myself. Thank you tons for even taking time to read this, and God is still good, camera or not.
