Relentless, persistent, constant, nonstop, persisting, unceasing and endless.
These words resonate deeply within my soul. These words ring loudly from every locker-room I’ve ever step foot in, every field that I’ve ever played on, and I am constantly reminded of them every day I awake from my sleep. Every day is a constant fight, a fight to overcome the trials the day brings, a fight to defeat who you once were, and a fight to walk in peace, love and joy with every step you take. Relentlessly, persisting on is no easy task and in this season of my life I have been constantly faced with obstacles and barriers that have made this fight seem even more exhausting and impossible. Being a division one college athlete is no easy feat, and it constantly brings struggles and hardships that push you, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. So much so, that I question every day what difference continuing to work hard and persevere even makes. It’s like with all my hard work and all my dedication I can never seem to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet something deep within me keeps going. Something in my spirit tells me to give it all I have. Something keeps telling me that it will all be worth it in the end. Pondering on this, has made me realize that I am not alone in the pursuit. That within every step, God’s relentless love for me is right there. His love is unceasing and constant and the most genuine thing I have ever experienced. And even in the trials or whenever we run far far away he is still relentless in his quest for us. He does not waver and he will not cease trying to win our heart. The great abolitionist and powerful women of God Harriet Tubman once said,“Lord, I’m going to hold steady on to you and you’ve got to get me through. “ In these words I can see the fight within her to keep going and to not give up on the Lord or this life regardless of the circumstance. Miss Tubman had every reason in the world to give up and never turn back. In her lifetime she never saw true resounding change and within that it could easily be seen to her that her efforts did very little to enact change. But her life was so vital and significant to those later to come and her life still paves the way for so many people. True fight and true diligence to keep going is something that seems like an impossible task. However, knowing the truth of God’s love and his plan for good in each of our lives, I urge you to to keep fighting, keep, persisting, and never relent because through it all God’s love still stands victorious.
