So as most of you know we were re-routed from Bulgaria to Moldova for our month 5. Moldova, a place I knew nothing about and never in my life imagined I would go. I guess that’s the crazy part of the world race, you get to visit countries you wouldn’t normally pick to visit.

This month my team is working with Emanual Church under Pastor Anatol.  We are living in Cahul, Moldova which has a population of about 45, 000. Our first week in Moldova has been chilly. The Canadian temperatures are setting in, and me being the wimpiest Canadian there is makes for interesting moments when we work outdoors or walk anywhere. Needless to say my teammates continually make fun of me for it.

We are staying in a newly renovated flat and we are preparing our own meals this month, which is the first time for me on the race. It has been a nice change and it gives me a chance to work on my cooking skills. Lord knows they could use a bit of work. We are definitely living in close quarters this month, but we are feeling blessed to have such nice accommodations, hot water, and beds. (legit mattresses on the floor)

The girls room

Our work this month is kind of different from day to day. Me and two other girls on my team spent our first 4 days working at a school with special needs kids. It has probably been one of my favorite ministries I have done on the race so far.  You can’t leave that classroom without a smile on your face. The kids won me over instantly. The best part though is that none of the four teachers who work in the classroom speak English. Let’s just say we are getting pretty good at Charades. One of the teachers speaks a little bit of French so Marcie and I managed to pick out key words and try and catch the gist of what they are trying to say. Let’s just say we have found ourselves in many laughing fits because we just can’t quite communicate what we want to. They have been so sweet though. We definitely have had a wonderful welcome into this country.

Other ministries we have and will be working with are English classes that happen at the church. Preaching, testimonies, and worship at various churches. Working with the youth group, and manual labor.

It’s hard to believe it is month 5 already. I am continually amazed at the opportunities the Lord has given my team. I am blessed to see God at work all around the world and I remind myself not to take a day for granted. I am thankful to live out this God dream with amazing teammates by my side.

Just a quick update on my finances still needed to finish the world race. Our final deadline is fast approaching on January 1st and I am still in need of approx $1200 dollars. I am confident the Lord is going to provide every last cent and am always overwhelmed thinking about all the people who have made this possible. Please let me know if you would like to help me reach my final deadline. Thank you again for your continuous thoughts and prayers.
