After month 8 de-brief in Cambodia, we were told about some opportunities we would have after the race. One of them mentioned was a program called CGA (which stands for Center for Global Action) The program was basically an apprenticeship in one of AIM’s (adventures in missions departments in the mornings, whatever was best suited for your skills and abilities…marketing, admissions, etc) and then practical classes in the afternoons (more specific to your calling, field leadership (learning to lead on the mission field), worship, or storytelling track) to help you get closer to your long term dreams. You would also be discipled by one of AIM’s senior staff, and get to live back in a community setting. When it was originally mentioned I thought that definitely wasn’t for me, but as time passed and we arrived in Africa for our last 3 months of the race, it started to come up again and again. GOD WAS CALLING ME TO DO CGA!
I originally wanted to go back to Minnedosa , Manitoba (my home) for as little time as possible, and apply for the September start date of CGA, but I realized in Rwanda month 10 that I was supposed to go in January. One of the biggest reasons was wanting to be there for my sister Robyn as she prepares to leave for the world race in January 2014.
So after applying I have received my acceptance for CGA in Gaineville, Georgia for the January 2014 intake, starting sometime in the middle of January. I have applied to stay for 12 months. For the people who know me well, I know what you may be thinking, YOU ARE GOING AGAIN, aren’t you ever going to settle down? And I can confidently say I finally realized God has created me to move around, He has created me to be adaptable, because that is the plans He has for me. Will I live and stay in one place ever, maybe, but what if I don’t. I CHOOSE OBEDIENCE, over what the world says I should and shouldn’t be doing by the age of 25. I am willing to do the thing that doesn't make logical sense. I CHOOSE TO LIVE MY GOD DREAMS!
One of my ultimate favorite questions….are you getting paid for this? NO! I am actually paying $3600 dollars for the year, and $200 dollars will be given to me each month for living expenses. MORE SUPPORT RAISING..YAY! I strongly believe the Lord is going to provide the money for me to be there. I believe the Lord is telling me specifically to pray for JUST 12 monthly supporters. If only 12 people support me $25 dollars a month for 12 months, that is $3600 dollars. I know these people; will be people who see this program for what it really is, not 12 months in the States, but a year to launch me into the next 5,10, 20 years. This is about making an eternal impact. This year is about discovering the deeper call for my life, my passions to come to life, and to learn in a hands on environment, under amazing leadership.
I want to leave you with some of my deepest passions, and desires; preaching to the nations, traveling anywhere and everywhere, seeing young people passionate about a real Jesus who has amazing plans for them, investing in people; calling out the potential in them, people in North America to realize the abundant blessings they have and to help make a change because they have been given so much, babies and young children who have nothing and the ones the world sees as unlovely, providing them with hope and a future, singing and song writing, living out worship as a lifestyle, inner city/ urban ministry, America, Cambodia, but most of all for JUSTICE TO COLLIDE WITH INJUSTICE! How do these fit together, do they mesh to something so much bigger than me? Please pray as I find out and come to a deeper intimacy and discovery of the Lord’s plan for my life. Your support is so much bigger than a year, I have confidence it is going to make a difference in the years to come, as together we bring God’s kingdom to earth.
