ZIMBABWE WRAPUP

Our first “month” on the World Race started after a 23 hour bus ride into Mutare, Zimbabwe. Team Ignite and Team Redeeming DUST (fourteen people) were sent from iSquad. We resided with our hosts, Felix, Jenni, and baby Njiva Museka, from September 13th through September 26th. (By the way, Jenni met Felix while on the World Race. Afterwards, she returned to Zimbabwe where they married and started their family.) My team slept in tents, the other team slept indoors. The yard was large and gated. The electricity/internet and water would go out for four or more hours each day. We filled water bottles/buckets, cooked in an outdoor fireplace, and hand washed our clothes. It was nice to have a toilet and shower. Thanks so much to the Museka's for helping us transition into this new lifestyle.

Passion World Tour (Pretoria, South Africa)

Our hosts had a prior commitment so we had to leave for Petoria, South Africa a few days earlier. It took 19 hours on a bus to arrive at our next destination. We were fortunate enough to attend the Passion World Tour. Passion World Tour originates from a church in Atlanta with a focus on bringing college age and young adults to Christ. I'd never heard of it before but its an experience I'll remember.

Pop Up Training & Development Centre (Pretoria, South Africa)

We left Zimbabwe on Sept 26th and headed to Pretoria to meet with the rest of iSquad. While there we stayed on the campus of Pop Up Training & Development Centre. They allowed us to use their conference hall every evening that had a kitchen, laundry, and toilets/sinks in the background. Most of us slept in one big room and others set up tents.

  • Sanded and recoated the playground equipment with a weather protectant
