The transition is happening.
Seven years of teaching is behind me now as I move forward on a new journey. I am no longer employed and am becoming more content with letting go of worldly possesions. I'm definitely not the same person I was a few weeks ago. The last few weeks have been quite eventful.
Work…
I'm one of those co-workers who is polite but not overly social. I do my job without drawing much attention to myself. Needless to say, it was a nice surprise to hear words encouragement, enjoy cake and conversation, and receive gifts to support my missions trip from my co-workers.
One co-worker invited me to a weekly event organized by a husband and wife team. They and have friends who share their exceptional musical abilities (vocal and instrumental) to praise God. They welcomed me and prayed for my safe travel and effectiveness as a missionary. The reception from these "strangers" was warmer than what I've received from my home and local churches. The entire experience was quite moving.
Personally…
My efforts to spread the word about the World Race has picked up more speed. My hometown and local newspapers have picked up my story. A local radio station has invited me for an interview.
My family and friends have become more supportive, too. And, I have become more comfortable with the idea of letting go of stuff (house, furniture, etc.). More than anything else, I am realizing the greatness of this opportunity and what God has in store.
