In my last two entries, I mentioned realizing that "delayed obedience is the same disobedience" and recognizing this World Race experience as being a huge test of my faith.

First Act of Obedience
To spread the word about the WR, I met with the Missions Trip Organizer at my church (that's not his real title). He was excited, encouraging, and supportive. I accepted his invitation to attend a group meeting for a missionary trip that our church is hosting to Kenya. I shared info about the WR. The outcome is a mutually beneficial relationship. Our FB group is awesome, this lets me connect with people face-to-face.

Second Act of Obedience:
I've also admitted that fundraising is the greatest challenge of all. While preparing to pay my tithes this week, I had all kinds of thoughts about the money being more useful towards my fundraising goal. I mentally rationalized that titheing and fundraising for the WR is the same. No worries, though. I paid my tithes because the idea of "stealing from God" is worst than anything.

At home the next day, I was sorting through books and decided to see if I could sell or recycle books for cash. After typing in a bookshelf load of ISBN numbers, I will get about $415 dollars for books. Awesome right? I paid my titles one day, the next day God responded with a bigger gift.

Third Act of Obedience
With two more weeks of employment left, I shared my WR plans with my students. The reaction was bittersweet. They were really excited about the travel and cultural experiences I will have. And, disappointed that I won't be there to see them graduate. Many agreed to help with my fundraising efforts by buying a tee shirt, getting orders, or sharing my story with their churches. Others were interested in buying a few household items to jumpstart their new independent livestyles. It seems I won't have organize a really big rummage sale after all.

Being obedient pay$$$…literally.
