Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Just reading these verses makes me smile, thank God, and think..  What an awesome God we serve!  Our God commands us to rejoice in the good, be optimists, seize the day, talk to him, confide in him, and thank him for everything that we have been blessed with. We do these things because this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus.  As Christians we can constantly be bombarded with feelings about whether we are or are not in God's will.  As I prayed and contemplated the World Race I talked to my pastor and he asked me this simple question.

"What do you want to do?"

I said, "I wanna go"  …

He said, "Is it in God's field?"

Me, "Yes"

"Is your other option in God's field?"

"Yes"

That got me thinking that God's plan for our lives is not best described as a course but rather a field… God's field is big and broad and I compartmentalize God when I think that there is only one course my life can take.  The revealing of this in my life has provided me a peace that I can't describe, but also a hope for the future as God only knows what part of his field I will be playing in next.  Page 102, In Charles Swindoll's book "The Mystery of God's Will" :

Wherever God’s will may lead you, and whatever He may call you to do, wherever he requires you to live, whatever must be given up, and whatever must be taken on, DO IT!  That is life at its best.  The quest for life at its best means we run with horses, we do His will, which is always the safest and most rewarding place to live – even though it is full of changing and risking and releasing. DO IT!

I love adventure and I love seeking God… the World Race provides me an opportunity to live the things I am most passionate about and to do God's will.  It is my hope that God will continue to make it more and more about him… that his name be praised.
