Recent college graduates and young professionals are often seeking purpose in their life and are reflective of what they want their life to look like as the years go by. As Christians God calls us to live a life worthy of the gospel(Phillipians 1:27). How does this look in the place I am at? in my occupation? in my priorities? in my hobbies?
Tim Kizziar said, “Our greatest fear as individuals and as a church should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.”
How then do we succeed at things that really matter? What really matters? It can be as simple as looking at the greatest commandment. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. While the greatest commandment may be a focal point of how you live… there are some questions you can ask yourself… I believe that Frances Chan does a good job of asking good questions in his book Crazy Love.
"Are you willing to say to God that He can have whatever He wants? DO you believe that wholehearted commitment to Him is more important than any other thing or person in your life? Do you know that nothing you do in this life will ever matter, unless it is about loving God and loving people he has made."
Those are some tough questions to ponder… but extremely valuable. Some people go to graduate school but I am going the less traditional route for continuing education. God has blessed me(us) far beyond what I(we) deserve. So we must also go out and bless others in the name of Christ.
