The World Race… when most people hear this they think of some type of amazing adventure, while this will be true to some extent, the purpose of this trip is still 100% missions focused to the max. Growing up I have always had a selfless attitude and heart to serve other people (obviously not ALL the time), but still I always wanted to do something that involved making other peoples lives better and bringing hope to the hopeless.
When I was in 8th grade (I think) I went on a one week missions trip to Rosarito Mexico with my youth pastor and youth group. This was hands down one of the best trips I ever went on. We as a youth group and community raised the money together to go. We spent the week at an orphanage helping to rebuild certain parts of it and spent are other free time there playing with all the abanded children. We also went out to a dump one day and handed out food and toys. I do not specifically remember every detail of the trip because it was a long time ago, but still I had the best time helping others so much.
… THIS TRIP WAS ONY A WEEK.
The World Race will be a whoping 48 weeks! I am at the point in my life where I do not have any majors commitments (a wife / family / college / ect) I really wanted something to give me the opportunity to travel and experience all different types of missions work first hand, this is it! God worked in such an amazing way to show me this trip. Long story short I was studying youth ministry and went to a music festival called creation with my youth group. We scoured the tents of different ministries set up, and this was one of them. I later realized that youth ministry is not exactly my calling, but missions may be.
…Hence why I am going on this trip…
