Support Me

Hello from the snowy mitten! My letter comes in the wake of some recent exciting events for me. Allow me to explain…

It started last December. Searching for a way I could provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Sandy, in New York and New Jersey. I joined 14 others from across the country to aid in a variety of challenging tasks. We assisted in the demolition of flooded homes, door-to-door prayer offering and various other ways while we were there. God used it as a “mind shaping” experience.

Upon my return, I knew I must respond to the Lord’s additional calling that’s in front of me. There’s a tragically ailing world out there, in places and ways that I, and likely you, don’t know of. Byron Center, Michigan is a pretty safe place in this world, and although it would be easy to keep living contently day- to-day, I believe there is a much greater and more fulfilling calling for me.

Research, many conversations and prayer followed, and I have since committed myself to a year of serving in several different nations around the globe! I’ve been accepted by Adventures in Missions, to be part of The World Race ministry program. I’ll join a team of 7 others, one of several teams among a group of about 90 individuals visiting the same 11 nations. Together we will spend 1-month in a country, doing things such as:

  • Help plant new church homes and assist in fixing damaged ministry sites
  • Work in orphanages and children’s special needs homes
  • Befriend women and young children caught in the ugly grasp of sex trafficking
  • Lead in ministry and encourage struggling local leaders
  • Feed, clothe, play and love children, homeless, and everyone in-between
  • and other life changing tasks, as we provide tangible expressions of God’s love to the world.

As is true with all who give themselves to a mission’s experience like this, I must raise financial support … as well as prayer support. For the year, I need to raise $15,500. That covers the amount I need for training, travel costs, lodging and food. It’s about $46 a day … $322 each week.

I invite you to be part of this investment in poverty-stricken lives around the world. Would you, over the next 10 months through 2013, support my endeavor? Perhaps each month you could support a day or a week, or maybe even a month. No matter the size of your donation, every amount makes an impact in the end mission of raising $15,500. And, would you combine your financial partnership with consistent prayer for both myself, and our team?

Enclosed is a support card, inviting you to share in this ministry. All checks can be made payable to Adventures in Missions, with my name on the Memo line, and can be sent in the enclosed envelope. All donations are fully tax deductible. Additionally, donations can be given quickly and easily through my online blog via credit or debit card, at the ‘Support Me’ tab, and can be setup as one-time or monthly. Will you enable me to spread my compassionate heart around the world?

I simply cannot express how genuinely excited I am to see how God uses both of us together in this mission. I’m committed that this year will allow both you and me to be a remarkable blessing. We can leave an indelible imprint on hundreds of struggling children and adults. Thank you for sharing in this opportunity. I look forward to further discussion with you about this strategic year.
