Greetings and salutations and stuff like that!
It is 3:00 PM and I am currently sitting in the dark shirtless and sweating as I type. There has been some heavy rain recently and some flooding–though nothing like the Colorado floods–and the power has been out for a bit. But that’s not really saying much considering that even when the weather is great the power will go off all the time. Oh grindia.
Would you believe that month 4 of this 11 month journey has come to an end? Time is flying by, and yet there are so many countries still to come!
This month here in India I’ve been learning the ropes of what it looks like to be a squad leader. I have been–alongside my three teammates–going through different trainings to help prepare us for when it will just be the four of us leading the squad (currently there are two alumni squad leaders with us that will be leaving at the end of the month).
After a week of being rather confined to our little apartment to do administrative things, we had the opportunity to split up and go visit teams that are out in the sticks.
I was out with a team in a small village for a week, and our ministry was to go to surrounding villages and pray for people and share our testimonies.
One unique experience we had was actually on our “off day.” We were all getting ready to go to the beach one morning, and as we were congregating in front of the house putting our shoes on, someone said, “yo look at the driveway.” I looked up at “the driveway” to find a man standing there with one hand in the air who was dressed, well, like the devil basically.
He had a big red headdress on with a bunch of face paint and had a fake tail. His chin strap that held his headdress to his head had these giant lips that covered his mouth. It was a bit of a disturbing sight.
But some of the team went up to him with a translator and began to talk to him. Not wanting to miss out on anything I ran after them.
When I arrived they had already been talking for a little bit, and had asked him if there was anything that he wanted prayer for, to which he replied that his leg hurt. So Maggie began to pray for his leg. When she finished he said it felt a little better, so she asked if she could pray once more.
I jumped in with her round two and laid hands upon his leg. We prayed that if there were any demons present that they had no place in the man, and prayed for healing in his leg.
Nothing spectacular happened when we finished, but I was thrilled to just be a part of that situation. I continue to pray that that man could see that nothing compares to the power of Jesus Christ.
It was funny how such a scary looking man was really not much different than the other people we had talked to/prayed for in India. Also, I am reminded that if he had not been a chill dude–if there was evidence by the way he talked or acted that there was demonic activity within him–that I still wouldn’t of had a reason to be afraid or anxious. Hello? I walk with the authority of Jesus Christ Himself. The Holy Spirit dwells within me, and as long as that’s the case Satans got nothing on me.
Please pray for opportunities for me to walk in trust that the Holy Spirit truly does have the power to do crazy healing, whether that’s in people’s physical body or soul. Even though I am in a new position where more of what I do is administrative, I still want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I want to lay hands on people and witness healing that comes from Him; I just want to be a vessel for Him.
Also, other than having some problems in Albania with some food poisoning, I’ve basically been healthy the whole Race! Thank you so much for your prayers for my bowls and whatnot. I’ve consistently had problems on previous trips overseas, so my health has been a wonderful surprise. I believe 100 percent that the reason I’ve been so healthy is because of all of the prayers.
