At church on Saturday we met two women. One was sick, had been for about a week and the doctors were unable to do much good for her. The other was a sweet elderly women with a very weathered face. The next day we went to visit them both at their homes to pray for and encourage them.

On our vists we learned that both are the only Christians in their families and villages. We firat spent some time with the sick women praying for her, encouraging her, sharing scripture, and talking. Then, we went to the elderly womens home which was just a very small one room hut. It had a dirt floor, low ceiling and no furniture to speak of. As we talked with her through our translator, we learned that she has no family except a son who spends his time and money on alcohol. He rarely comes to visit and never stays long. She told us that on numerous occasions she has felt near death but God has brought her through each time. The day before was one of those days.

Both of these women, one being ill and the other feeling near death, made the long journey on foot through the mountains to be at the 3 hour church service. I, on the other hand, have justified not making the easy 2 minute drive to church on a Sunday morning because I was a little tired. The struggles that these women face on a daily basis in poor conditions and being alone in their villages and their dedication to the Lord humbles me. Makes me think on and be very thankful for the blessing of the church in America and those I call my brothers and sisters. Love you all.
