Well maybe not the craziest… but the bumpiest for sure.

So our travel day started out bright and early.
5 am woke up and finished packing.
5:30 am the matatu’s arrived to take Cody, Christina, Mac, and Dex’s (my) team to the bus station.
7 am we are on the bus and we leave Nairobi
Now I should probably mention that I had been told how horrific this bus ride was going to be so I took both the drowsy dramamine and melatonin so by the time we were on the bus I was unable to keep my eyes open.  Pretty much for the next 7 hours of the trip.
Yet I was not completely asleep because I could still feel those bumps.  I just literally could not physically open my eyes any more.  It was great let me tell you.
I was a few rows from the back not my favorite place to sit but better than what they had.
The girls in the backseat literally got air each time the bus hit a bump.
And until we reached Uganda the majority of the roads were a) either filled with speed bumps every 8-10 minutes, or b) dirt roads full of lake size ruts.
This won’t be as specifically timed as I like my travel blogs to be considering I was battling my stomach and writing things down was the last thing on my mind so I apologize.
We stopped 3 times before we reached the border.
Twice for bathroom breaks we got 4 minutes.  Super fun.
And once at a grocery store to pick up something for lunch.
I stuck with fruit loops and a sprite to keep my tummy happy.
I want to say we got to the border around…
3:45 p.m.
Thankfully they let us leave all our stuff on the bus and just walk through customs which is a HUGE blessing let me tell you.  Border crossings while carrying all our bags make for a pretty miserable time.
It took awhile to get through because on the Uganda side we had to get visas which were pricy and they wouldn’t expect US money before the year 2000 and wouldn’t you know ALL of our money was from 1996 so that made for some fun scrambling jumping in and out of lines and i’m still pretty drugged at this point.
Finally at about…
4:50 p.m. let’s say we made it through the border and got back on the bus.
Once we were in Uganda the roads smoothed out a bit PRAISE THE LORD.
Because at this point i’m starting to wake up and be fairly coherent.
Around..
7:20 p.m. we got to see THE NILE RIVER!!!! So cool to get to see that and at the end of the month we get to go white water rafting on it!!!!  Super legit if you ask me.
Around…
8:30 p.m. we make it to the town of Mukono where our contact meets us at a gas station where we are dropped off.
They have one van and we are working with team WOW this month so they went first and we waited at the gas station for the second trip.
We finally made it to the Jam Guest House where we are staying at about…
9:15 p.m.
There is a tiny restaurant on the roof where we had dinner for the night though only Dex, Phil, Becca, and myself chose to eat everyone else crashed.  I had fries and a coke.
Then I crashed.  But we have western toilets so YAY! 🙂
I am super behind on blogging so don’t be overly shocked if you get bombarded in the next week or so once I start knocking these out.
SO yea.. IT”S MONTH NINE!!!! Whodathunk?
