good morning to y’all 🙂
Well, here I am and here you are! I am so excited to have you HERE reading about my next journey as I prepare and attend the World Race! But first off…shall we start with this past year and today?! I would love to all share to you all what I have been up to, and what my goals are for this next year to come!
For the past year I have been attending graduate school at Texas State University getting my Masters in Recreation and Leisure with a certification in Therapeutic Recreation. Through my Therapeutic Recreation program I have been able to assist and work closely with people with disabilities, illnesses, and disorders. With our program, we facilitate therapy and treatment for people through recreation and leisure to ensure a healthy and happy life. I have also been working as a nanny for beautiful triplet infants (now toddlers). With this job I have been able to nurture and love these three babies, as well as teach them and lead them every day. Through this past year I have realized that I love to serve, nurture, and lead people through their life and journey.
Though it has been busy, I have grown as a person and a Christian emotionally, socially, and spiritually. I have been able to lead a lifestyle that has allowed me to live and grow in faith, hope, and love. Every day as I learn and grow, I have found God and all of His blessings leading me to something new and different, and oh what a wonderful and eventful ride it has been!
Back in February, I met a World Race Alumni in one of my classes. She had mentioned the World Race and how it is beyond life changing. Well being a graduate student and full time employee, I looked up the World Race, bookmarked it, and thought “well, I am too busy for this, there is just no way.” This summer, The Lord called me to revisit the The World Race’s website and apply. After a ton of thoughts and prayers, I decided to follow what I felt I was being guided to annnnd HERE I AM TODAY!!! Gosh, God is so so good all the time!!
Now a little about the World Race by Adventures in Missions: it is an 11-month Christian Mission trip to 11 countries around the world. The countries I will be visiting in the 11-months are: Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Haiti, and Dominican Republic. One of the exceptional things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip, but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded in August 2016, I need to raise $16,761. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip.
As I begin this wonderful voyage and preparing for my race, I will be hosting some great ways for you to get involved in helping me! This doesn’t just mean financial support, I will need a TON of prayers and positive thoughts as well as encouraging words! My goal is to post on my blog (http://kerseypeterson.theworldrace.org) at least two times per month. Through this blog you can read my updates on the race, see events I will be hosting, AND experience this journey along side of me as I grow and develop spiritually to become more like Jesus. On my blog you may also support me financially by clicking the support me button, you can leave encouraging comments and scripture, as well as contact me if you have any questions at all about the World Race!
I am so joyful and blessed for such a wonderful opportunity to serve as a missionary through the World Race, and I am even more excited about the hearts and hands I will touch while spreading God’s eternal love. I want to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and considerations in supporting me through this journey. Any bit helps and I am ever grateful for your support and encouragement.
Be Well,
Kersey 🙂
