Redeeming Thailand

 

I cannot put into words how it
feels and means to return to Thailand. I never thought I would ever be back in
this country. However, God’s infinite plans are much larger then the tiny view
we see.

 (Second day in Thailand and we were already thrown into ministry and went to school to tell 1000 children the Christmas story)

 

 

It has been over a year since my last time spent in
Thailand. While I was on the World Race I was ministering in Ubon  Ratchathani.
We painted the church, visit schools, handed out bibles/evangelizing and did big
programs with drama’s and music in the town centers.

 

 

Ministry was great, but during my time in Thailand I was
questioning my relationship with God and what my true calling was. This
affected my relationships with teammates and even the ministry for that month.
All I wanted to do was to move on and go to Africa. Time came soon enough, but
I always felt that I missed out on something, that could have been incredible.

 

 

The sad thing is that I swore I would never return to
Thailand and 15 months later here I am. It is a joy to be back and it is an
honor to serve the Thai people. 

 

 

 

On the mission field, I love sharing the story of Jonah. I
love being dramatic with my voice and actions and I especially love seeing the
expressions on the children’s faces. If I had to compare myself to biblical
characters, it would be Jonah.

 

 

Jonah was a man who heard clearly from God. God told Him to
go to Nineveh and to lead the people in repentance, for they were evil in God’s
sight. Jonah refused God’s call and tried to run away from God (this is
impossible) He hired a ship to sail him away from Nineveh, however a big huge
storm came and Jonah knew this storm was meant for him because of His
disobedience.

 

 

We all know the rest of the story that Jonah was in the
belly of a fish for three days and three nights, he repented and the fish spit
him out onto dry ground. Jonah obeyed the Lord and went to Nineveh. The people
responded to Jonah and repented for their sins and God had mercy upon the city.

 

 

The reason why I compare myself to Jonah is because I knew
that God was calling me back to Asia, especially to Thailand and Cambodia.
However, I had a pity party and refused to listen to God. I had one of the most
painful seasons of my life before God led me to do my DTS with YWAM.

 

 

 

God’s timing is perfect and complete. Even though it took
awhile to return to Thailand, I believe God was doing prep work on my heart and
now I am ready to see the harvest in this beautiful country, which desperately
needs a Savior.
