Before the World Race I have had the privileged to work for Christian Horizons and serve those who have exceptional disabilities. I have given my heart away to these beautiful people and loved in ways that I thought I could never love. When you see their joy and enthusiasm for life, I often wonder what secret do they possess. I can see God constantly whispering truths in their ears, which makes them laugh.
With my six years with Christian Horizons and serving over 30 individuals the Lord taught me what it means to love the unlovable. I used to walk past these people and wonder why they should be in society. Now I see them for who they are; God created beings just like you and me, who deserve to be treated with the highest respect. This is why I am so passionate about raising awareness about the issues of exceptionalities globally.
Often in other parts of the world, those who have disabilities are often overlooked, mistreated and not a part of society. For instance, Sarina was locked in a room for 18 years because her parents didn’t want anyone to know that she was legally blind (Mexico). If you want to know more of how you can be involved to stop the injustice see http://chglobal.org

I was so excited to meet Nome at one of our programs in Thailand. Nome lives in one of the slums in Ubon Ratachathani Province. Nome has one of those smiles that capture your heart. I had so much fun teaching her some new dance moves and seeing her get so excited.
1 Samuel 16:7 says, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
I want to encourage everyone not to judge so quickly. This is not just in regards to those with exceptionalities but all people. The Lord looks at the heart and when you start to look there as well, love comes spilling out.
