I was looking forward to women month. I think it was because I appreciate all female teams, since I was on one for three months. The main reason I was looking forward to this month was so I could get to know my new teammates. I only had 2.5 weeks with them in Cambodia and that was a rough experience and to be honest I did not have the greatest outlook on my new team.
I needed the Lord to change my heart and this month proved to be a month of challenges but also forgiveness. I see my teammates with fresh new eyes. I see how they will stretch me. Also, I am not afraid to stretch them as well.
Us five woman Lisa, Amanda, Courtney, Victoria and me, have seen transformation with our own eyes and we will continue to see transformation as we grow deeper with each other and the Lord. I am looking forward to Africa when we reunite with our brothers Chris and David because I honestly believe things will be different. It will still be challenging but I welcome the challenge and the change.
What I have learned so far about each of my teammates….
Victoria– is the joker. She has an enthusiasm for life that is contagious. She loves to make people laugh and she knows how to brighten anyone’s day. She has a lot of wisdom and discernment, especially for someone as young as she, but God has chosen her to speak truth in the dark places/ corners of people’s lives.
Amanda– is the mountaineer and adventurer. She takes things to extreme every time. Her life is an example of living a radical life for Christ. She never does things half way. Her motto is to give your best to God everyday. She lives an authentic life, what you see is what you get. Also, Amanda has a special spot in her heart for older people. Watch Lisa’s video and you will see Amanda dancing with a 93-year-old man.
Lisa-is a rebel with a cause. Lisa loves the Lord with such passion and vigor. When she sees injustice her heartbreaks and she will stand against the things that are wrong and fight when no one else will. Also, she’s just so much fun! She likes to be goofy and her laughter is so infectious.
Courtney– is the mother. Courtney is a beautiful woman of God, whose heart is sensitive and so compassionate to others. She loves deeply and cares for people in such an honoring way. Courtney has a heart for children especially. Joy is written all over her face when she holds a child. Courtney is passionate about education being the key to end poverty and she has a HUGE heart for Africa.
