Why do we ever think that furthering the Kingdom has to solely come from these huge bounds? The big things are so beautiful and miraculous but solely focusing on those quite truthfully diminishes the significance of the little actions that are so necessary in bringing the Kingdom. Ministering to and loving the orphan, widow, prostitute, and homeless tend to be what we are most eager to do, and we think that those things require huge actions and aren’t caused from an abundance of little ones. While the eagerness and heart behind those ministries are so important, it can be extremely easy to forget that they aren’t the only people who make up the least of these, or the last, or the lowest. The family with a lot of money is the least, the CEO who is cheating on his wife is the least, the college athlete who is collapsing under the pressure of lockerroom talk is the least. They need both big and small gestures, and they need us to humble ourselves to the last position so that we can serve them. Anyone who doesn’t know the Lord is part of the least. I want to repeat that. Anyone who does not know the Lord is part of the least. It is stopping the Kingdom from expanding when we act like the least is solely comprised of those who need physical compensation. What about those who need heart compensation?
If we think that little actions aren’t doing enough, then I’d encourage us to hold the mirror of Christ to our hearts and let Him expose some incredibly probable insecurities about the magnitude of which our souls magnify the Lord. We bring the Kingdom with us, so that means that the Kingdom is in the little things just as much, if not more than the super big revelatory moments of living life as ministry. In the gas stations and the masses, in the streets and corporate events, we are in charge of bringing and furthering the Kingdom. If we aren’t satisfied with the smile in the corner store or swallowing your pride when a coworker is being arrogant and prideful, then I believe it reflects the possibility that there is a lack of confidence in how much your soul magnifies the Lord. Your soul should ever so CLEARLY reflect Jesus, especially in the little things, and I question if a lack of satisfaction in the actions of the mundane reflects insecurity or lie of inadequacy in the scope of power waiting to flood out of your soul. Stop allowing the enemy to diminish the significance of the mundane. Of the everyday. Of the conversations in the workplace or at school or the grocery store. You don’t have to be halfway across the world to bring Kingdom or minister. You might even have a chance to partner with Him in bigger ways right where you are.
I want to encourage us all into being Kingdom bringers in the big and small, in every single day of our lives. In order to do that, however, we must be confident in the power that Holy Spirit holds within us, and to boldly allow our souls to fully magnify and exalt the Lord in our everyday actions. Some of us will only sow seeds or reap super small harvests, but if our hearts don’t show Him constantly through a smile, or we question if that is even possible or realistic, then we are missing out on a chance to partner with God in humility to plant that seed. Feel honored that He chose you to say hi to a stranger, and obey that because HE CHOSE YOU and He will partner with someone else if you don’t take that chance. Don’t hesitate to catch the football just because it isn’t a hall-of-fame-worthy pass, because it is better to catch it in a little way than make Him throw it to someone else. Don’t question how your soul can magnify the Lord in the mundane. Don’t miss out on a chance to partner with Him, because we never deserve it, we mess up constantly. Yet, He wants us to help Him bring Kingdom. Accept His invitation into that. If we don’t exalt Him in the small everyday things, how can we expect Him to use us for the big moments?
