“Robert McKee says humans naturally seek comfort and stability. Without an inciting incident that disrupts their comfort, they won’t enter into a story. They have to get fired from their job or be forced to sign up for a marathon. A ring has to be purchased. A home has to be sold. The character has to jump into the story, into the discomfort and the fear, otherwise the story will never happen.” – Donald Miller (A Million Miles In A Thousand Years)

When I signed up for the World Race about a year and a half ago it was because I wanted to live a better story…a great story…

…and I got to do that.

From country to country the Lord blew me away at the bestseller I was getting to write from the memories we were making together.

Somewhere in the middle of my adventure, it became clear that the season of being on the field was not going to be just a a one-hit wonder.

There was going to be a sequel.

Or as I call it now — Passport Leading.

And man, what a story it's been so far.

I wish I could put into words how proud I am of my group and my co-leader.

In each and every single one of them I've been blessed to see the dream of God. That as a group they are unlocking so much for the very fallen and broken world they are getting a glimpse of. That the messes and struggles they have walked in over the years are not ugly — but beautiful because the Lord works all things for good.

And are they doing good.

They've healed hearts and had physical healing take place. They've preached to the masses and seen so many of God's little children come to know Him more intimately. They've stretched and opened up more than I ever imagined a group doing so in their first month together.

They are fighters.

They are warriors.

They are Sons and Daughters.

Again…they are Sons and Daughters.

They are His.

And they're helping me live a better story yet again.

All of them.

And so while the story of my life has changed, the author is still the same.

It's still Jesus.

Sure, not every day is a glamorous adventure like preaching to thousands of people in a village or anything remotely close. In fact, my days are usually spent either at the clinic or hospital with one of my kids who are sick or being asked to have one on one after one on one. Would I trade it though? Nope.

I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Well, except a shower from time to time.

Getting to invest in the next generation of Kingdom builders is a blessing.

And because I know these day's are His will — it doesn't have to be what the world would consider to be "adventurous" — He makes it the best day of my life.

So as you read this, I challenge you all to never settle for the first story — write yourself a better sequel. Or twenty…

…don't stop chasing more. Never be content. Keep grasping and fighting for more of His love and the better story will happen naturally.

I promise…

…and so does He.
