Home
When we got to Thailand we were told to pray over our teams and discuss what we wanted them to look like. As I was praying the Lord gave me the word home for our team. That we would be home for each other, a safe space to come back to and be vulnerable in, a place to find joy and laughter, a place where we feel loved. Also, that we would be home for all of the people that we come in contact with. That we would make them feel comfortable and that we would be people that they want to talk to and open up with, laugh with, and feel loved by. Me and my team have now continued to pray this over us.
What’s cool is we were switched from our last ministry to now work at a foster HOME with children who may not know what that looks like. Very excited to see all the Lord does with this ministry, this team, and this word. Home.
Praying Psalm 84 over our team, that we would embody the “house” of the Lord, that we would walk declaring his praises and marching in his strength. That we would trust in him and trust in the fact that “a day in his courts is better than a thousand elsewhere”, a hard day on the race (where the Lord has called us, is better than an comfy day at home.) And that we could rejoice in the fact that He finds favor in us and that is enough.
Here’s a little intro into the people that are my home away from home for the next year:
Avery- 20, St. Cloud MI
Avery is a great listener, she loves and encourages myself and others so well. She has the brightest smile and the best dance moves. We have decided she has the most swagger out of everyone on the whole squad.
Also, she’s my bed buddy and sometimes I wake up to her holding my foot.
Heather- 19, Newbrontfeilds TX
Heather is probably the funniest person I’ve ever met, but along with that she also carries great wisdom. But be aware she may or may not be starting a documentary uncovering all of our secrets. Also, she may owe me a couple baht for not keeping her area of the room clean.
Hannah- 18, Kansas
Hannah has such a servant heart and can always be found showing little acts of kindness to our team, but we have also discovered she has quite the sassy personality as well.
Also, sorry for almost stepping on your head every night.
Lily- 20, GA
Lily can make friends with anyone, she’s super relational and she’s also a fantastic photographer. It’s been so cool to see those two talents paired together. Also, I’ve discovered she can survive on basically no sleep. She is always the first one up and the last one to bed.
Caroline- 18, GA
Caroline carries humility and confidence like no one else. She is one of our logistics leaders and it has been so awesome to watch her carry this leadership position with such grace. But don’t cross her or she’ll cut your budget.
Sam- 18, Candler NC
Sam has such a sweet and gentle spirit and no matter where we go kids flock to her. Me and her got to meet before the race and it has been so nice having her with me as we jumped into the unknown. PS if you have to sleep in the same bed as her, you may not get much room.
Emma- 19, Austin TX
Last but not least, Emma is our faithful leader. She did WRGY last year and agreed to come back and lead us for the first three months. Emma carries leadership so well and conversations with her are so life giving. But she is also a grandma and must be in bed by 9.
Thanks for listening!!
lots of love,
Kenni Grace:)
