I just want to take some time to tell you guys about our ministry we are working with and what we have been doing here.
The Foster home is called Connies home and it is such a sweet environment. They really know how to run that place well. The schedule for the kids is very structured and the kids always know when to do what. They are so well behaved. It’s kinda freaky sometimes, especially with the babies. They can’t even read a clock but they know exactly when it’s nap time and they’ll just stand up from watching their movie and walk right to their room. They do the same thing when it’s time to eat or go outside. If only we were like this with God, having faith in His timing of when He asks us to do something and being bold enough to just get up and do it. Definitely something He has been teaching me lately.
Mornings with the kids are probably my favorite…and the most exhausting. They have an hour of outside play time when we first get there and if I’m with the older kids that usually means I’m chasing them being the “monster”, being pulled into fake jail, or playing baby and being fed all the sand cupcakes I could want. And if I’m with the babies that probably means I’m just pushing their sweet faces around in a plastic car. Either way, mornings are lots of fun.
Our main reason for being there is to teach the children. There is a different subject everyday and it’s our job to plan out the lesson and then teach it to the kids. I’ve always said I could never be a teacher so I was definitely worried at first about this being our ministry but even though there are certainly times that test my patience this is probably another one of my favorite parts of the day. The kids are really smart and it’s fun to get them to engage in different crafts or activities and to see there different personalities come out within how they learn.
They are all so sweet and funny and smart and I pray over them everyday that God will place them in loving families and will raise them up to do great things for His kingdom.
It really is going to be hard to leave them at the end of this month.
Two days of the week we are only at ministry for half of the day. On some of those days we have been cleaning the hostel where we are staying as a way to serve our squad. Many people have been getting sick so we are trying to help and limit that as much as possible. Another thing we do on these days is something called ATL. This stands for “Ask The Lord”. During this time we pray for guidance on what God specifically wants us to do/where He wants us to go. The other day, for me, this looked like going to a nearby temple with my friend Emma. She had just read Joshua that morning about Jericho and how the Israelites walked around the walls 7 times. So we decided to do the same thing around this temple. We walked around it and prayed over it and declared the Lords truth over it. The Lord showed me how his love is moving and it’s bringing down the walls of these peoples hearts for Him.
After this we met up with some other friends and walked to another temple and through the RL district, praying over all of it. At the temple we found a white butterfly sitting on a tree. When we got back to the hostel I looked it up and I found that white butterflies are a symbol that spiritual change is about to take place. How incredible is our Father and His attention to detail and the fact that He is definitely moving here.
Also, as we walked down the street I began to feel heavy and felt a sense of familiarity. The road and one of the buildings on it looked like one from a dream I had where I was kidnapped into a sex trafficking system. The difference with this building though was that it had butterflies on it. Butterflies are a symbol of freedom. Oh how God is bringing freedom to these people and this place and how special that He would let me in on seeing His vision for it all.
Thanks for reading and for supporting me financially and through prayer. Y’all are just as much apart of this journey as I am. Can’t wait to share more!
Also, I am still fundraising. So if you feel called to donate you can do that through this blog. If I get $457 more by Halloween I have agreed to dye my hair pink!!!
Much love,
Kenni Grace<3
