My team and I have made it safely. We are in Quiche, Guatemala this month. As I walk the streets everyday I am reminded of “blessed are the eyes that see what you see.” It is such a blessing to be here. I am honored by the sights that I see and the smiles and “holas” that await me every morning. I currently find myself sitting in the center of town in Quiche, Guatemala. I am typing this inside a cozy cafe called Regi with amazing pastries, cappuccinos and wifi! World racers love wifi!! Around me are sounds of busy streets lined with street vendors, buzzing with fast moving tuk tuks and salesman selling their national flags.

This month is squad month, meaning the whole squad is together instead of splitting off around the country. We are staying at Agape in Action and working at different ministries around the city. My team has been assigned to work at a special needs school. At first I was nervous about this but that soon went away after spending time with the children the past couple of days. They are filled with so much love.

The language barrier has been a challenge. I’ve found myself quite frustrated at times because I simply can’t communicate with those around me. But slowly I am learning how powerful nonverbal communication is. A simple smile and laughter shared can go a long way.

On Monday Guatemala celebrated their Independence from Spain with a town wide parade. My team and I were blessed with the opportunity to walk in the parade with the school we are serving at this month and were able to wear their traditional clothing. It was awesome!!

Prayer points:
-There is a large Christian community here but discipleship is needed.
-The people are heavily oppressed by the government.
-As a squad/team we would continue to move with unity

Internet is really slow here, hardly available but I will be posting photos/videos soon!!

Love y’all!
