Well, hello there!
How are you?
So anyways!
My name is Kendall Taylor. This is my first of many blog posts to you because I’ve decided to give my life over to the Lord this year and follow him on the World Race! I will be traveling to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Thailand, and Eswatini to serve the people in a myriad of different ways! Initially, we were supposed to launch in September, but because of COVID-19 we will be spending the fall training and serving in Georgia before launching in January!
Let me tell you a bit about myself!
I’m 18 years old. My Myers-Briggs is INFJ (introvert, intuitive, feeling, judging). The only reason I know what that means is from my goofy friends loving to take personality tests!
I’ve just finished up my first year at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga, but before that I lived in Sykesville, Maryland (and before that, in Pennsylvania!).
I live with my mom, older sister, younger brother, and of course our crazy animals! I’ve attached a picture so you can experience their cuteness!
I love music and art and really enjoy spending time expressing my creativity through these mediums. It’s also special because music allows me another avenue to be involved in my church through worship.
Another big thing about me is I love to workout. Ok, ok don’t think I’m crazy yet! I really enjoy running and just finished my first marathon this past fall! Running is sort of like meditation for me. It’s how I create space to really listen and spend time with God. I’ve grown in my relationship with God in ways I’ve never experienced because I prepared and ran my race fully relying on him.
I also rock climb! This is something that I’ve started doing since I went to school this past year and I absolutely love it. What makes it so special is the community I’ve found there. These are the people I love the most and they make me feel like I belong so deeply to the community of believers.
I got baptized last November! The water was freezing, but it was the most incredible thing I’ve ever experienced. I had never felt worthy of baptism, but through God’s perfect love for me, he showed me my worthiness because I was his daughter and that I never had to earn that. This renewal in Christ was only made possible through my community who have supported me throughout the hardest periods of my life and celebrated in the most joyous!
Throughout most of my life the Lord has placed a burden on my heart for people who have been victims of injustice. One of the biggest places that has led me is my heart for victims of sexual violence and trafficking. I also feel a special place for the children who have lived their wholes lives not knowing peace and freedom from injustice.
There’s me in a nutshell! I am so excited to tell you more about why I am doing the World Race and about my journey with the Lord through life over the next year!
I can’t wait to learn and grow as a lover of God and member of this amazing Christian community. As I begin this journey, I would love if you would be willing to pray for courage, peace, and wisdom in discerning more about God’s will for me as this time with my squad (and you!) is going to be so vulnerable and sweet.
I’d love to talk to you more about what I will be doing on the World Race and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!
Grace and Peace,
Kendall
