Our first week here we had de briefing, we were able to wind down a little bit after the last 2 months of ministry, and have time to reconnect with the rest of our squad who we had not seen much of the last two months. Our “squad parents” Roger and Rozy came from the states to stay with us for a week and pour into us and process with us everything that has been going on with our teams and with our personal growth over the last two months when we were in New Zealand and Australia. It was an amazing time, God really showed up in our session times in huge huge ways. Debreif is over now though and we just found out what our ministry will be for this month!!
My team will be working with a prison near by doing prison ministry. Yes, actually it was the ministry that when they were listed to us as an option , I was actually very eager to become involved with. I know! That does not sound like a ministry that I would pick because it is outside of my comfort zone in many many ways. God though placed it on my heart the second I heard about it and I knew that was where he wanted me to invest this month while in the Philippines. I felt as though God was telling me that working with the kids would be easy for me because that is something I have done almost my entire life, God is now wanting me to step outside of my comfort zone. So I am doing just that! We will be going every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday to the prison from 12-3 p.m. . The four girls on our team will be working with the womens side of the prison, while Danny and Jonathan will be spending their time with the men. When we arrive we will be bringing with us food that we prepared for them and will be feeding the imates and spending time with them. From there we were asked to lead a time of praise and worship with them and also a daily devotion. The last hour or so we will be doing various crafts with them or playing volleyball ( so I thought I was done with volleyball in my life and my last 2 ministry sites have involved me playing volleyball again, God is a funny God 🙂 ). We will be investing into these women and showing them Gods huge love for each and every one of them. Yes, there is a side of me that is nervous a little bit but I know this is where God wants me and his protection will be abundantly flowing over me over the next month.
On top of doing the prison ministry with my team, Jeff Long has asked me to be in charge of organizing and planning the up and coming vacation bible study for the kids on the streets. I was so excited when he asked me to help with that, and I am very eager to start the planning process.
We have a busy month ahead of us! We are all very excited though and very eager. Please be keeping my entire squad and 4 other N squad teams that are working with us this month in your prayers.
