Love is in the air!! $80 teddy bears, tons of flower being picked from their natural habitat to be handed to someone who will most likely kill them within a day, CHOCOLATE (there went that new years resolution .. ), expensive restaurants that are more expensive than my college tuition, and my personal favorite .. “I love you sweetheart,” All signs of TRUE LOVE! isn’t it great! . . . no not at all.

I am not against these things, because I mean if someone wanted to take me to a fancy restaurant or give me chocolate then of course I wouldn’t say no . . . but I have started learning a little more about love during the month of February. So what is love?

Love is what my Lord has been doing for me. He sees that I make it through the “hard times” everyday. I can always call on him, even when I only have $4 to put in my tank because I spent all of my money on sending out letters for fundraising. Right off the top of my head I can think of two ways the Lord has showed me love.

1. I prayed for a job and he provided. I went for the longest time without a job. I didn’t know how I would make it to the spring semester of college and I could not go out and do anything because I literally had no money. During this time I was accepted to The World Race and I had to pay kind of like a “commitment fee.” So . . . I did it. Spent almost everything I had to pay for this fee. What do you know, the next day I got a call for an interview at HEB!! Now I am working at HEB and I am so thankful to the Lord everyday for this job.

2. I prayed for a good friend and he provided! During the Christmas break, Nacogdoches looked like a ghost town because all of the college students had gone home. It was me and the “lovely” animals in the woods next to my house. I was literally going insane. Thankfully he brought me a friend named, Mercedes ( Hey Mercedes!! ). Once again, God heard my prayer and answered it. Mercedes has been such a blessing. She is someone I can do crazy stuff with such as, get breakfast before daylight (before the roosters even crow!!!!), have a spontaneous trip to the ocean, go to random places around town “just cause”, and talk about traveling with. She also has a love for missions!!!! So when I talk about wanting to fly way across the world to a random country and minister to people there, she gets it.

So while I may not be experiencing the “love in the air” like most people, I am experiencing an even better love. The love of my Lord Jesus Christ. I feel like I can relate this to the World Race. My prayer has been for the Lord to give me strength while trying to raise so much money. This has been so stressful for me and has just taken over my thoughts and mind, which is so dumb because I know God will provide. So as I pray, please pray with me, that God will provide!

Matthew 6:25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
