I am sitting at home and am full of wonder at God’s mercy in my life and those close to me. God started something miraculous at training camp – He imparted gifts tous and also gave us wisdom in how we are to grow in these next 90 days. When God starts a work in us (salvation) he is going to follow it up with working in us. We don’t have to work that much- He will do it. Praise Jesus!

So how do I grow? SOOOO many people always say that their past is what has made them what they are today. In a sense this is true. I have gone to grade school, high school, and college. I have received awards and scholarships, and I have received demerits. I have had healthy relationships and unhealthy ones. I have loved and I have hated. I have experienced happiness and pain. Does all these circumstances define who I am?

Probably the biggest factor of the above is pain. A lot of people use their pain and excuse it. It sits within people coming out in forms such as depression, remorse, anger, and ego. In some cases people hide it and deny it. Some people live their whole lives holding on to a grudge. This isn’t freedom.

God says we have freedom from this. As Christians we do not live in this world and are not shaped by what has happened to us. We look to the future and what God has in store for us. God is mighty to forgive and might to take our grief and give us joy. I am so amazed at this mercy! I no longer have to be chained to the past and the people that have hurt me.

Here are 5 quality (from Ron Walborn) of people of destiny:
1. Though far from perfect, when God calls they say “yes!”
2. They don’t have to know every last detail before they obey.
3. They don’t allow discomfot to rob them of their destiny.
4. They don’t allow doubts to rob them of their destiny.
5. They allow their destiny to be shaped by their destination, not their past.

Hebrews 11:13-16 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

We live with our heavenly home in mind. I don’t hold on to the pain I have experienced in the past. I forgive those who have hurt me and feel a burden lifted each time I do.  I am not here to live for the past. It is behind me. I only live for what God will call me to and know that he will guide and direct my path and in that path there will be love, joy, peace. I am not my own anymore – I am God’s. I am free.
