We spent several afternoons at a feeding program in the poorer part of town when we were in Botswana. There was a church where we went to help serve lunch to kids ages 3-16. This lunch we served might have been there only meal because some of their families don’t feed them well. The younger children just loved attention and we got to teach a bible story one day to them. They just have so much energy! We also learned a new game that they play on a picnic table. It is African chess or something like that and it was fun to learn. This is my teammate Matt
We also spent time at a school for orphans where we just played with the children. A lot of them have HIV but we were not told which ones. It is so sad that a lot of Botswana have AIDs. Sex is so common in southern africa that a lot of people contract aids and die. Thus the reason for so many orphans. This is a sad reality that is only getting worse. (Note: Botswana is the plural term for people from Botswana. That name term was then used for the countries name.)
The kids all love having their photos taken and seeing a camera just excites them!
Here are our Canadian hosts. Luke is standing up in the back and he was our main contact. He is from Canada along with his roommate Graham on the right. He is the funniest person alive probably as well as having a strong desire to reach people for God. His happiness is just contagious. I am holding an american flag patch because you I didn’t want people to think that I am Canadian.
This is our entire team.
