Hiiii! Welp, I am still in Malaysia, living it up in Penang. We are continuing our work with YWAM and the homeless ministries. We’ve also had some cool opportnities to meet some of the people based here and what Christian life looks like in a Muslim country. We also got to go to PENhop (Penang House of Prayer) and that was really cool to see and be part of. They preayed for us at the end of the meeting and so many of them brought up joy in regards to us and they didn’t know that our team name was joy, so stuff like that is always awesome π
I am loving all of the culture here and as many of you may know, we’ve been trying all different kinds of food. The “torpedo soup” aka penis soup was probably my crazy food for the month and if I hadn’t been tricked into eating it, I would show you a picture π
us all happy and ignorant of what was to come
But yeah, there is a lot of cultural differences compared to what we are used to in the US. For example:
-Men and women can’t touch…like no handshakes, hugs or anything
-No pointing of the index finger
-If you are born a Malay, then legally, you are Muslim forever
-with the large Chinese population, I constantly feel like I am getting my nails done
We had a couple days off this week and on one we got to go to the Botanical Gardens and explore around and it was AWESOME. We also went to the top of Penang Hill and got this amazing view of the island. During our time there we got attacked by monkeys, held snakes, slid down the slipperiest rocks ever and hitched a ride for free from our nice Malaysian friends π All around a fun day.

Next week, we are moving ministry locations to a local hospital where we will be doing some sort of fundraising so that will be a nice change of pace and our old friends from PLJ are moving into our apartment and will be based here as well. Should be good times π Thanks for reading, more thriling news from Malaysia to come!
If you are interested, my team is posting all of our pictures to THIS site. Enjoyyyy.
