March 08th to April 28th: Cape Coast, Ghana
“It’s so hot all you can do is sleep and shower.” Mike S.
Well, we have been doing more than just that, but it is hot.
All I have to say about that is… heat rash.

Housing: For the past two months we have been living in the
Great Commission office/house about 10 minutes from Cape
Coast University
in Cape Coast, Ghana. The house is located right
off the main market street so we can easily pick up all we need for meals. It
has been great to live in community with my team and team New Song this month. Each
room houses about 3 of us each with plenty of community and living room space. We
have a nicely supplied kitchen with a gas oven and have been able to make most
of our own meals. We will usually eat breakfast and dinner together and once or
twice a week have a fun activity like a dance party or a movie night. Just last
night everyone dressed up as their favorite Office character and we had an
Office marathon. I was Pam. I don’t recommend wearing a cardigan in Africa. It’s hot.

Ministry: This ministry has reminded me the most of being
home in the US.
Most Ghanaians have heard the Gospel at some point in their lives, and many of
the students grew up in Christian homes, attend church, and know all the right
answers to the religious questions; however, they still have questions as to
what it really means to be a follower of Christ, how to be led by the Holy
Spirit and how to live in freedom outside of the legalism that reigns heavy in
their country.

Being here has reminded me of my time at college. I accepted
Christ when I was 18 years old, just before I started freshman year. Looking
back at my time in Campus Crusade I feel like I was just trying to live out a
lifestyle, to live in the Christian culture instead of seeking after Jesus. I
thank God for his grace that he continues to draw me near and show me what it
means to follow after him.
