CHANGESSSS
When we didn’t change teams at the beginning of month 4
(Siem Reap break when new Squad Leaders were appointed) I was pretty happy (I
love my 180 family) and believed that if it didn’t happen then, then it
wouldn’t for the rest of the race.
Expectations- we were told to leave them at the door the
moment we left for the race, right.
At the beginning of May we had our third large debrief in Lagos, Nigeria.
We were pretty much confined to the large compound where we were staying
(horrible traffic if you tried to go anywhere and security reasons). It was a
very sweet time for the whole squad. We were able to spend quality time with
our coaches, Mike and Patty Paschall, as well as had plenty of time to
fellowship together in meals, soccer, worship, and various other games and
activities.
A new level of squad unity has been reached and it could not
have come at a better time
BECAUSE…
Our teams have drastically changed.
I definitely had mixed emotions about the change. My team
was strong and getting along very well, and I still feel like there were things
I could learn from them one a day-to-day basis but… this change is what is best
for the squad and also for me. What we had in our individual teams- the unity,
the love, and the camaraderie needs to be outpoured to everyone on the whole
squad. This is not a time to get comfortable on the race but a time to increase
pace for the last 4 months so that we can finish well.
I am excited for my new team and the new challenges ahead:
one of those being- I am the team leader!
My new team, named 2nd Mile, is composed of Annie
Walker, Sydnee Mela, Tyson Payne, and Will Jung. We are getting along well and
feel like the team is a natural fit. We are looking forward to being a
close-nit family for the next 4 months.
Look for a new blog from Will Jung describing our new team
members.
