”The REAL WORLD of SOMOS SANGRIAS”

Month 10 has arrived and it’s crazy! The teams have changed and we are now in Costa Rica. My new team is called Somos Sangrias (“We are the Bloods”, because we are washed by the blood of Christ). Our home is in Jaco and we have joined in on the ministry called, “Ocean’s Edge”. They do a variety of ministry which include sharing about Christ in the workplace, this includes surf club, trash clean up, business school, art school, bible studies and more. So for my team and I have helped with the remodeling of the base. We have layed down concrete, painted a mural and helped paint furniture.

This season of “The Real Lives is Somos Sangrias” is definitely going to be filled with joy, laughter, grace, honesty, challenges, and even more laughter.

I would love to introduce you to the cast Somos Sangrias.

First, there is Lindsey. She is one of our raised up squad leaders, but this month she is a teammate. She is a natural at surfing, she stood up on her first try, like what!!?? But really, Lindsey is someone who is eager to grow and have deep intimacy with the Lord. She has a caring genuine heart, she disagrees with this but she definitely does! She desires for those around her to see the beauty of what the Lord has to give us. She thinks and asks questions that make you think deeper about our relationship with the Lord, which I love!

Dani is a funny one and is also my snuggle buddy (p.s she likes tickle back – tickles on the back, lol). On my last team she was the team leader of EmPower Rangers. She led us so well. Hyped to spend another month with her! She is someone who is easy to relate with and she gives people the freedom to be themselves. Her trust and dependence in the Lord shines so bright! She wants others to see and hear how the Lord’s plans are far greater than our own. When she talks, she speaks with such confidence!

Brandi, Brandi, Brandi, wow what a cool, hip person! She was on my first team with Team United and I learned so much from her. She is a woman who takes obedience to heart. When she hears something from the Lord she moves it to action. I’ve been able to see her wake up at 4 am to be with the Lord, say yes to being a treasurer, say yes to being a team leader, say yes to prayer, say yes to community and say yes to even more. She is a woman who is active about serving and loving the Lord.

Janele, she has been a big blessing to me. At the beginning of the race I wasn’t sure if I would get close to anyone, but the Lord gave me this sweet sister from the very beginning. At training camp we were real and vulnerable with each other. She is someone who has a rare heart and mind. She is a wise woman who seeks guidance from the Lord constantly. She sees so much in people and wants others to see their purpose of being loved and be seen by the Lord. She lives life intentionally.  There is so much depth within her that is beautiful!

 

Ethan is a goofball of a brother. With his goofy self comes a giant heart. He is someone who is quick to share Jesus and give encouragement. “You know what I’m sayin’” haha. Seriously though,  when we first got into Jaco we were dropped off at a bus stop and within 5 minutes he was talking and praying with people. He is serious about others knowing and believing in the son of God. When you talk about Jesus with him you instantly feel encouraged.

 Mack!! He has become a big brother! Just within the past few days he has loved and cared for me and the other ladies as his own sisters. So thankful for this brother. He is a man with so much strength that only comes from the Lord. He desires to grow in deeper intimacy with the Lord and it’s clearly seen that he serves the Lord with his whole heart. Day one of ministry he spoke boldly and prayed for another team at Ocean’s Edge. He continues to step deeper into the Lord’s love.

This group has so much to offer and give. The Lord knew what He was doing when he put us all together and I am so excited to continue to do life with them as a family! We have spent 5 days together so far and it’s been an environment where we feel safe, encouraged, loved, and have genuine care for one another’s hearts. We laugh together everyday! Thankful for each of these beautiful humans! May the Lord continue to shine and reveal more of His love so we may love each other even more.
