Little People, Big World, Magnificent God

I feel so small in this giant world. The more I learn about God and the more I see His creation, the smaller I become.

As I sit on the balcony having my Jesus time, I see the ocean, trees, macaws (beautiful colorful birds in Costa Rica), and monkeys. And as I look, I am once again struck by the magnitude of the Lord’s beauty.

This morning I took out my iPad to listen to music but I felt the Lord say,

“No, sit and listen to my creation.” So I did, and then the Lord said again, “Do you hear how they are singing to me?”

I could hear the crashing of the waves. It was like they were singing praises to the Lord. Each crash had a different voice singing and giving glory to God. The trees, firmly rooted and grounded, rustle in the wind, and each leaf, with its own season, gives a soft whisper to sing. When all the whispers come together they sing praises in unison. The beautiful colorful birds are radiantly painted and as they travel in flocks with their wings to the sky they give a loud caw proclaiming the name of Jesus to all those in sight! And the monkeys are like children with their carefree, playful spirit. They dance and yell for their magnificent God, their creator.

So beautiful! After praying and giving thanks to the Lord I read a Psalm.

“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations (and all that exists).”- Psalm 22:27-28

Creation bows down and worships the Lord with all that they are because they know who God is and know they belong to Him.

As I was thinking about all this the Lord asked me,

“Kelsey, do you know who I am and do you believe what I am capable of? Do you know you belong to me? Do you worship me and sing praises to me with all of your being out of your love for me? When you go home will you share your love for me with those you meet and say you love?”

When I heard these things I was instantly diverted to prayer because I wanted to know what was in my heart,

“Oh Lord, I pray that I would never stop knowing and believing who you are. Sorry for my hesitations and not always believing that you are more than capable. I pray to invite your spirit and presence in deeper. Lord I also pray for those who don’t know or believe in you because to know you and to be in a relationship with you is life changing. (Just ask Him to show up in your life because He will! How will you know if you don’t ask?)

Lord, sorry that I’m easily swoon by things. I pray that my mind, heart, body, and soul would remain secure in belonging to a Heavenly Father because my identity is fixed on the Magnificent God who created all things. I pray we would belong to the Father who loves us unconditionally. (It’s so easy to place our identity in earthly things. I sure have, and it doesn’t satisfy. It leaves us empty, broken, and lost.)

Lord, I pray to worship you with all that I am. I fall short of course, I mean all of us do. But may I not betray and hurt you, the one who loves me and cares for me. (Let’s pray together that we will not let the enemy have any power over our mind, heart, body, and soul.)

Lord, I pray to share Christ with confidence, boldness, and courage because how can I not after what you have given and shown me. Thank you for a year of experiencing a walk with you around the world. There is so much more you want to show and teach me. (I’ve heard His voice call me closer, bring me places where He heals, provides, gives, serves, loves, and brings me people that reflect Christ’s character. Gosh and there’s still more.)

The Lord wants you to know and believe in Him because He is magnificent. We are His beloved children. Let’s sing praises to the Lord for He is good, He is alive and He is here. He has a purpose and plan for us small people in this big world.

p.s I fast on Tuesday’s and pray for my supporters. so please let me know what I can pray for!
