HE KNOWS AND HE SEES YOU!

Yesterday we had an ATL (Ask The Lord), which is asking the Lord what we should do on that specific day. Crazy, right!? I was a bit nervous, but also excited. I was like, “Oh no, what will we be asked to do and how will He tell us?” So we asked the Lord and it was so cool to see the Lord speak to us in different ways. My teammate Brandi got a picture of blue clothing, an old phone, and a cow. For Ashlyn, it was the image of an elderly woman who we see almost everyday at a corner street selling flowers. For me, I pictured the Danube River, a beautiful place here in Novi Sad and the second largest river in Europe. (We visited the river once before with one of our friends, Izzy, from church.) Once we shared what we saw, we decided to walk over to the river. There was an old phone directly to the left of us as we walked into the gates of the Danube River Park. After seeing that, I was like, Whoa! Crazy! We kept walking and Ashlyn saw some people by the river and we went in their direction. Approaching the people, Ashlyn boldly started a conversation with a lady and her grandson. Her cute grandson had such a big smile on his face. We were glad they spoke english. (English is commonly spoken among the younger generations, but not so much with the older people.) As we started talking with her, we noticed she was wearing all blue. A blue scarf, a blue jacket, and blue tennis shoes. While we were there, we prayed for her and her family and the city. After she left, we prayed more for the country of Serbia and gave thanks to the Lord for seeing such a beautiful country.

Afterwards, we walked to the place where we usually see the elderly lady sell flowers. SHE WAS THERE! And she was selling beautiful hand-picked flowers. I am so glad the Lord told us to see her, because we’ve seen her so many times and I never stopped to say “Hi” or buy flowers from her. On days when we passed by, I would see her standing there holding her flowers in front of people with a kind, gentle smile. I’ve seen many people ignore her. Sadly, I too was that person. I am so thankful we went to see her. She stood there at the same exact spot, selling her pretty flowers for 100 dinar, which is about 1 USD. To think she does this for a living is unbelievable. She survives off of these flowers and depends on it as her source of income.

Praise the Lord that we were able to bless her and not be one of the many that pass by. We made her seen and we acknowledged that she is a human. Oh boy, she is the cutest woman I have ever seen sell flowers. I’m glad that we got to buy flowers from her, hug her, and pray with her. She didn’t speak a word of English, but as we prayed for her and with her, she pointed her hands up to God and said thank you in her Serbian language (Hvala). She knew we were praying to a God who is living and active. So many people want to be seen, heard, and loved. So glad to share the love and joy of God with this sweet lady with a contagious smile!

The Lord has no language barrier. The Lord notices you and sees you! He tells you that you are beautiful, you are made by Him, you are worthy, you are never too far from Him, you are worth fighting for and you are deeply loved. Nothing can separate you from the love of Bog.  (Fun Fact: BOG in Serbian is God)

With much love,

Kelsey Yonnie

We love because God first loved us. 1 John 4:19

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:13-16
