L O V E

“…He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to his heart, and gently leads those that are with young..” Isaiah 41:11

Oh how the Lord wants to hold us closely to his heart! This is how the Lord is reminding me of His presence. He wants to hold me close to his heart and gently lead me. Just as the Lord has gathered me into his arms so has our host dad, Jeff. Throughout our time in Botswana, my team and I have been experiencing fatherly love and it has been such an encouraging example of our Heavenly Father’s care and love for us.

As a team we have been greatly loved by both Jeff and April, our hosts. They almost feel like our parents. We have a curfew, we get dropped off and picked up when we go into town, we sing loudly in the car as we drive, and on Sundays after church we go to their home, and play card games (when we play we play very competitively) and eat until we can’t eat anymore!

Jeff and April can talk forever about cooking, Jesus and life in general. Jeff specially has such a tender caring heart and is so funny without even knowing. He calls us his daughters and tells us very sweet things as a father would.

He said to me, “Kelsey, you carry the Joy of the Lord”, and with those words we gave a gentle kiss on the head.

I hear that saying often, but when I heard it from him it came from a voice of love, strength and honesty. I know when he says it he is serious about it and wants me to believe it. He sees the light in me, even when I don’t see it. He sees the Lord and continually wants those around him to know the love of the Lord. Being in Jeff’s presents reminds of the love and care we have from our Heavenly Father. so many struggle oth male role models, but always go back to the character of Jesus and seek him as your everlasting father. 

Oh how deep the Father’s Love is for us! When we experience love from someone think about how much more the Lord loves you! 

“You are my beloved and I will love you with and everlasting love.”
