Traveling from Malawi to Zimbabwe:
- Jan. 5- 3:08 am: get up and get ready to meet with the rest of the squad in Lilongwe, Malawi. We stayed in the city the night before so we could get WiFi and get a bit more sleep. (Lol, we only slept for 3 hours)
- 4:30- 9:27am: Get on the bus with the squad and travel to the Mozambique border.
- 9:42-1:57pm: Stand in line and get Mozambique Visas. (Long wait!)
- 2:19pm-7:43pm: Travel through Mozambique to Zimbabwe.
- 8:00-9:30pm: Stand in line and wait for Zimbabwe visas.
- 9:42-12:30am: Travel to Harare, Zimbabwe and get off the bus in Harare.
- Jan. 6th- 12:45-1:45am: Wait at the Holiday Inn to get a hold of host friends to get us. (We were so tempted to buy a room at the hotel because we were so exhausted and tired after the long day of traveling.)
- 2:05: We get picked up by our Zimbabwe host’s friend!
After an exhausting, nauseating, frustrating and tiring day of traveling we were very pleased to be picked up by a man whose life story and is incredible! The long day of traveling and not buying a room at the Holiday Inn was defini worth it. It was so cool hearing about the family’s journey. The Lord definitely established their steps. The father was telling us about his life and how the Lord was in every step, even when we was in his darkest of times. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 and faced many challenges along the way and would have never thought of having his own business.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9
Him and his wife have their own wildlife conservation business and take care of wild animals. We were in such awe of this family. They help treat and manage the wild animals in Africa and the wife is a wild animal vet. How cool is that!
They showed us pictures of them treating animals and in one picture the wife was giving a lion stitches. We saw videos of them moving animals like elephants because of the overpopulation in certain areas. This family does amazing things and has a huge hearts for animals.
After the exhausting day of traveling we were so glad and thankful to have stayed with this beautiful, loving family. We felt so loved and well taken care of.
While visiting with this family we also got to meet some animals! (wifi is bad here so I have a difficult time posting pictures to my blog, sorry)
After visiting with this family we met up with our Zimbabwe ministry host and the excitement and awe continued.
